Andrea, On the KAM+ you can set the CD to software for use with open squelch.
the default will be hardware, but first try pressing the AM/FM button in and see if the?
CD light will go out, or at least flicker off, adjust audio level so the CD is off with no packet noise,
and on with packet noise. That¡¯s how I have mine set.?
if unsatisfactory operation, than return button to out position and set CD to software mode.
