Tube Pinouts, datasheets, any info please! 2
I am sure this has been asked to death, but I can't find (in English anyway) any info for IN-1, IN-2, IN-14 tubes. I need pinouts (especially anodes!) and voltage requirements. I'm ready to assemble a counter (simple 0-9 single tube, still a massive achievement for me.) and realized that nowhere in any of my documentation, do I have a pinout for these tubes. Thanks for the help Shane

Nixie idea
I posted a picture or block diagram of a single tube counter, or idea... I guess. Basically let me know if I am correct in concept, if not why? Am I missing any components (transistors, capacitors, resistors anywhere? I'm eager to get that tube counting! Thanks Shane

14-/16-segment LED's with magnifying cupole and NO ascii rom? 6
Have there ever been manufacured any 14- or 16-segment miniature alphanumeric LED displays with magnifier cupole that does not have an integrated ASCII-ROM? IMHO one of the most fascinating LED's ever made, but all I know of have that limiting factor with the damn character generator that can not be bypassed.

To use an external RTC or not? 5
I have noticed that some designers use an Atmel microprocessor with an external RTC and TXO, others use an Atmel microprocessor with an integral crystal (surface mount), and still others like Moses use a Microprocessor without an external RTC but with an external TXO. What are the advantages or disadvantages of these different appoaches. I am not sure how Moses gets the clock function from his microprocessor without a RTC. Dan

Tayloredge smart sockets and CD4511
I think I found a possible solution to take full advantage of all of the features of the Moses (Neonixie) 6 digit driver with the B7971s. http://www.allspectrum.com/store/product_info.php?products_id=501 Replace the six 74141s with six CD4511 BCD to seven segment decoder driver, then interface these with the Tayloredge smart sockets which have all of the HV MPSA 42 driver transistors with the base and collector transistors organized on the board. I would replace the PIC on the board with the CD4511s. Please look at the schematic for the sockets and let me know if this would make sense to use for the Moses driver solution. Take a look at this socket: http://tayloredge.com/ I uploaded to schematics for the socket and for the allspectrum CPU

Current requirements for direct driven 6 tube B7971 Nixie clock 4
just how much power could you get from the old school ,N51X 115vac to115vac isolation transformer @35 volt amps AC ?(so what do that mean) through a full wave bridge at 400 vdc and a big hunking 100uf cap at 450vdc i never got more than 165vdc out of it but i have no idea of current of wattage?when it becomes DC, so i will need some help from all you math heads out there.with the dc output at 165 vdc What is the current and wattage DC of the power suply ? from a 35volt amp ac transformer that is 115vac to115 vac

E1T Counter on Ebay
Greetings, Sorry for the commercial taint, I have a complete working E1T counter on Ebay here http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=290455311019&ssPageName=STRK:MESELX:IT And I am trying to get in contact with an Aussie-expat now in California who phoned me last week who was interested. TI Eval kit ordered 7
I ordered one of those kits from TI. I figured it's hard to get hurt for under five dollars and it'll be fun to play with. I got the notice tonight that it's on back order. I'll let the group know when I receive it. Thanks for the tip on this! This is one of my favorite groups. Mike Harpe, N4PLE Sellersburg, IN, USA -- Please note my new email address: mike@...

Monkey Nixie Tube 9
Hello folks, I can't believe what I just digged out: Did NASA actually train monkeys with Nixie tubes? I would love to find some historical proof like a picture or something like that. Where did you get this information from, AJ? All the best, Jens

Dekatrons are Good for Your Bones ! 2
Apparently dekatrons help prevent bone loss (osteoporosis): http://www.starkepharma.com/pharmaceuticals/?product=nandrolone-decanoate Its for a drug, not the tube we have fun with, here in this group. They finally used the term for something else.

Prototype Multisegment Tubes From E-bay 3
Well I got the tubes from the seller in the mail. Pictures will follow later. 2 tubes one is unmarked the other is marked in blue with the following VX9110 DEV LAB SAMPLE NL NUMBER 7 It is an end view tube approx 1 5/8 inch dia by 4.25 inch long No anode mesh, it has 13 segments formed of wire sitting on top of a ceramic support plate that sits on top of a mica centering disk. The innes segmemts are in a star pattern with the vertical ray going from top to bottom, all other segments make up half sections. Size of the display is 1.125 tall x .75 wide in inches. There are a couple of decimal points? There are 16 pins. The pins face the front of the tubes. The bakelite bases are brown and have a finger pull on the back. It looks like the tubes were made to plug into a panel from the back side of the panel. The glass press is flat and has 16 wires coming through it. (lookes like the old style tube press before the wafer seal came into use.) the seal tubulation comes out through the center of the glass press. There are 2 rectangular getters. Both tubes still contain Neon as they light with my hand held sparker/tesla coil tester. Have not had time to wire up to a power supply with the appropriate limiting resistance.

Anyone interested in some NIB GN-5A tubes?
Hello folks, I might be able to get several (about 12) NIB GN-5A tubes, you can see the tube here on my site: http://www.jb-electronics.de/html/elektronik/nixies/n_gn5a.htm?lang=en Is anyone interested in trading something for these, or is someone derperately looking for some of these? I just thought I should ask :-) Please reply either here or use my website email adress at: http://www.jb-electronics.de/html/allgemein/kontakt.htm Kind regards, Jens

Socket Types 3
So I have a bunch of Z573Ms. Is there any type of socket for these? Or is there some good makeshift method for a socket? I had originally thought of just making/buying a small PCB for each tube. That would make it easy for testing of my circuit on a protoboard and eventually replacing if need to be. But that is too expensive/too time consuming. Any suggestions?

... Yup - as soon as I saw what a mess Yahoo! had made of it, I deleted the message... Indeed - there was a typo because the datasheet I have was almost unreadable - immediately after I deleted the original message, I used some image processing s/w to see what was really there, corrected the typo and then Google Translate was happy with my Russian! Sorry to have bothered you all - I was hoping the message would not get noticed - moral of this is that don't expect the Yahoo! Groups! software to do anything sensible with international characters... ...I do wish Google Translate could have the equivalent of "soundex" to help with typos - It's really quite slow to translate documents that are in Russian if you don't get it 100% right... Thanks Nick

Neonixie 6 Digit Controller/ B7971 & CD4511BC BCD-to-7 Segment Decoder/Driver 2
When comparing the truth tables between the 74141 and the DM8880N if 1111 or LLLL is implemented by Moses to blank the display for his 6-digit controller then the digit "F" would be displayed instead of a blank tube. The DM8880N is described as a High Voltage BCD-to-7 segment Decoder driver. Could I substitute a CD4511 directly for the DM8880N for this application since the code is identical to the 74141 according to the truth tables? Will there be enough current to drive the B7971 segments? see uploaded data sheet in Chip data section Thanks
