no mater what faults and niggles the nanovna's have imagine going back to a gdo or mfj 259??,cant knock them,as far as im concerned there a great piece of kit,im supprised a lot more hams are unaware of them!!

any more thoughts on my ts-850 tunner/null issue yet dave? 73 m3vuv.

Remember, this is an open sourced product. No warranty and guarantee,
explicit or implicit. They do their best in China, but it is somewhat
expected that there may be user 'adjustments' required. Same for now
firmware downloads and installs. I have the original small display, the -F
and the -H4 versions. No problems with any of the three. So, loosen the
screws a bit - pretty simple and it doesn't even expose the electronics.

Can you imagine a torque wrench on every line on which these NANOVNA's are
assembled? not..........

Hugen has not replied to my earlier question to him about what he intends
to do about the defective units that have been shipped. I have recommended
the Hugen product to multiple people on The Facebook NanoVNA User group but
sadly will stop doing that now....

You have to take into consideration that hugen is a talented radio amateur enthusiast whose aim was to put a sub $100 VNA into hands of other radio amateurs. He learns from users and his own experience, but in the end the NanoVNA is a open source hobbyist device and hugen is only financially capable of offering the level of customer support attendant to a sub $100 product produced by an enthusiast. Technically the H-4 works as designed. The case design was probably farmed out and the tolerances are tighter than they should be on a number of units.

I would advise any potential customer of a new product (NanoVNA-H4, SAA-2, etc.) who has an expectation of receiving a product free of any warts not to be among the first version purchasers. Experienced amateur radio enthusiast don't mind being on the cutting edge and helping to improve and advance a project. Hugen, from past experience, has continued to provide technical support of the NanoVNA and I don't doubt that subsequent deliveries of the NanoVNA-H4 will address the packaging problems. Fortunately, all my recommendations have been to other radio amateurs who don't mind and even relish popping open the case and making the minor changes required. Again, it all depends on ones level of expectation. The NanoVNA-H4 meets my expectation for a hobbyist level sub-$100 unit.

You can identify the first wave of soldiers into battle by the number of arrows sticking out of their backs.

The minimum receiver bandwidth range is currently 2 MHz, but the Pluto

can be used very successfully as a narrow-band receiver so I think this is
just a programming limitation at the moment. You could buy the programmer
(that's NOT me) a beer or two via PayPal along with with request for
narrower receiver spans!

I received my 4" 1500 MHz H4 version 0.4.5-7-g57d62f2 a few days ago, ordered thru Alibaba on Feb 7. Battery was fully charged and all is working fine. Nicely boxed and it includes a short carry strap which has a triangular plastic piece that can be used for menu selecting. Glad to see the on-screen battery level meter - no need to install a diode. It's communicating with NanoSaver and calibration works. Have not made any measurements yet using NanoSaver but SWR, Smith chart and R+jX measurements and calibration direct on the H4 are working. So far I'm very pleased.

Appears to be just existing nanoVNA with the addition of a balanced to unbalanced balun on the bridge Rx sens output. . Not to be confused with the high freq AD8343 mixers, ADF4350 synth version previously described as V2 model.

Naming is going to create confusion with various models.

Update- Maggie K replied overnight. They are sending a new case. I do read this blog every day and somehow missed any report of these issues. ( pause for 1st sip of coffee) Versus my 1st smaller NanoVNA, I was surprized that this came in a case... It must be saddening to find an improvement such as a case as nice as it looks now is a problem.

I still am concerned regarding the Multi-switch as with regard to my "old" (3 month) NanoVNA the multi-switch on it is better but not perfect. Inspection of the new multi-switch indicates it's kind of soldered on - surface mount style and would be difficult to remove and replace. I am not warm and fuzzy in that regard.

I will post my adventures in the future and enjoy all the support I have received.

Mine was working fine when I got about (about three weeks ago), but froze after I reassembled it after cutting away the excess plastic at the USB socket. It took me a couple of minutes to diagnose the problem, and ten seconds to solve it. You don't need a new case or major surgery on it.

This is a mechanical error that occurred during the production of the first series.
Because the downtime was very long, the manufacturer was not able to make the conversion. If I could recommend it, you might want to add some helpful information to your merchant kit. Anyone who has received the new product will not be able to handle the problem with confidence. There is always an exception. So if the redesign is not workable, then it is advisable to include help information along with the shipment, what is the solution to repairing the malfunction.

glad you got the -H4. Since yours can come from a prototype, I think similar to mine.
I received it at the end of January, among the first. What I encountered was posted in the forum on how to fix it. I think you can have the same error, mechanical, too.
