Good morning, I know I've seen one or two of our group post about hearing aids that worked with their iPhones. My Mom is in the market for some and I told her I would reach out to our group and see what I could find out about them since she has an iPhone. If anyone has experience with these type of hearing aids and wouldn't mind sharing your thoughts please feel free to private message me. Thanks! Beth

Years ago there was an app (Spell Catcher) for the mac that would auto correct misspellings and you could set macros for keystrokes. It also would correct capitalization - for instance if I typed a lower case i it would change it to upper case. The developer died and the app was no longer updated and it doesn’t work with new OS’s. I know the keyboard preferences does some of that but is there a replacement for spell catcher? Thanks.

All of my finder windows show this at the bottom of the window But my time machine doesn’t give me the capacity available. Why????

I recently got this message on my MacBook Air macOS can't repair the disk "MacAirTimeMachine". You can still open or copy files on the disk, but you can't save changes to files on the disk. Back up the disk and reformat it as soon as you can. So I tried disk warrior and received this message Directory must be rebuilt from : Recovery disk because of macOs access security restrictions. Here is info about my machine macOS Big Sur Version 11.7.1 MacBook Air (13-inch, Mid 2013) Processor 1.7 GHz Dual-Core Intel Core i7 Memory 8 GB 1600 MHz DDR3 Questions: How do I get a recovery disk- or where do I get a recovery disk. Failing that, can I copy the files from the time machine disk to another disk and still have time machine be able to access them. Or should I just reformat the drive. Time machine is one partition on an ssd drive - can I just reformat that partition? The other two partitions are working fine - I was able to rebuild the directories on those partitions. All help gratefully accepted.

Folks, I often find something that most all of you already know, but just in case. I have a laptop with the lid closed and view through an Apple Monitor. I use Apple’s watch and what is suppose to happen is when I access the monitor the Watch is suppose to open the OS on the laptop. It hasn’t work for years, if I use the trackpad to awaken the monitor it never opens and I always have to type the password. If I use the keyboard by hitting the spacebar it might work one time out ot ten. By accident I found if I hit the spacebar twice it ALWAYS opens and ready to use. I guess I should have learned this long ago, maybe none of you have a watch opens your system, maybe I’m a choir of one but just in case I thought I would pass along. Has anybody updated to macOS Ventura 13.0? What do you think about it? Should I do it now or wait for a bit? There is also an update to 12.6.1 Thanks. Harry

Anyone else having issues with files on iCloud? It wasn’t long ago I wrote to say my folders inside iCloud had disappeared but the files appeared on my desktop folder. Great, this is easier. This morning my current files were not updated, my latest file which was yesterday’s date was not there, rather the latest file was 10-27-22, however even those were incorrect, my changes that had gone back to Sept. were not appearing. Anyone know what’s going on with iCloud? Does Apple have a known problem they are working on? I would think I’m not the only one experiencing this? Thanks a bunch. John

Occasionally the fan on my MacBook Air runs continuously and noisily. I shut the computer down and restart the computer and the fan noise disappears. Should I replace the fan?? I googled “how do I replace the fan on my 2013 MacBook Air and found instructions. It’s pretty straight forward. Thoughts. Thanks.

I use a Karelia product called Sandvox - it’s a web design tool. I am trying to access their forum on their web site but I get this message: Is there anything I can do about it. They do have a form to send questions too but after I fill out the form and hit send it just hangs there and eventually quits. Harry

O.K., senility may be setting in so I wanted to check with the smart folks. Each day I do workup on a few files after the close of the market….forever I would backup the data to two folders on my local Mac, then I would go to iCloud and there were the files for me to copy my data to, one for each day of the week, which would allow me to drag Monday’s file, then Tuesday’s etc. Finally I copied the Excel Spreadsheet to the file to replace it with the older file. I also back all this up to DropBox and the TimeMachine drives on my local Mac. Starting, I think, with one day last week, when I open iCloud all my folders and backup files are now gone…Really? What I’ve discovered is the files are automatically backed up under the iCloud Desktop folder. Cool, but freaked me out until I discovered what was going on. So now, when I replace the older files on my iPad with the new I go to the Desktop folder and they are instantly there, without me doing a thing. Have I been asleep, I am running an older OS since one of my programs is only 32 bit, anyway I wanted to see if anyone else had noticed a change. Have a great evening. John

Hi all, My wife got a 'thank you for her order' phishing email allegedly from Tumi (high-end luggage and bags). The email was sadly very clever. All the links pointed back to Tumi's real site. The supposedly-bought item was a real Tumi product. They were counting on people to call, because the given phone number differed from the real phone number, but only in the middle three digits (real phone number 800-299-8864, phishing phone number: 800-781-8864). Of course, they couldn't guess the last four digits of one of our credit cards, and the sales tax was no sales tax from any place nearby, and the receipt was a 1990's-style fixed-width-font invoice (which would be doubtful for a fancy-pants place like Tumi), but still... an impressive effort. Sad to see that phishing has become more, uh, professional. Bill

Last night before I went to bed my bluetooth keyboard was working fine on my iMac. It was working fine this morning too. Around 11 my wife and I drove to Lexington and spent the day there with family. When I got back to Louisville around 6 this evening my keyboard wasn’t working. My bluetooth mouse works. I turned off the computer and restarted it a couple of times and the keyboard still wouldn’t work. I shut the computer down and plugged the keyboard into an external power source to charge. I waited 3 hours (plenty of time to charge) and it still does not connect to my iMac. It hasn’t been dropped or mistreated - it just stopped working. Any idea what’s going on or how I can fix it?
