Last night before I went to bed my bluetooth keyboard was working fine on my iMac. It was working fine this morning too. Around 11 my wife and I drove to Lexington and spent the day there with family. When I got back to Louisville around 6 this evening my keyboard wasn¡¯t working. My bluetooth mouse works. I turned off the computer and restarted it a couple of times and the keyboard still wouldn¡¯t work. I shut the computer down and plugged the keyboard into an external power source to charge. I waited 3 hours (plenty of time to charge) and it still does not connect to my iMac.
It hasn¡¯t been dropped or mistreated - it just stopped working. Any idea what¡¯s going on or how I can fix it?
Thanks.

Just now I was pressing keys on the keyboard and the light that comes on when you press the caps lock key did not come on. Could it be a bad battery in the keyboard?

I was going to say it might have lost it¡¯s bluetooth pairing, but yes it looks like it might be the battery. Call Apple and see what options they have for you. I don¡¯t know if one of the local Mac/repair shops can do anything about it. iFixIt shows how to get it open, but admit it is tough with all the glue that Apple uses to hold it together. You can read it and watch the video to see if you want to tackle it: Not sure where to get the battery, though, and the article doesn¡¯t say. My googling didn¡¯t come up with any, but didn¡¯t put much time into it. I did find a discussion on various issues related to the keyboard, including how to reset it. Might help: Let us know how it turns out. Jonathan On Oct 9, 2022, at 9:50 PM, Harry Jacobson-Beyer <hejb44@...> wrote:

I had a Genius Bar appointment this afternoon. They asked what was the matter and I told them the keyboard died and they gave me a brand new one. They didn¡¯t look at it, or test it.
When I got home with the keyboard I turned it on and the computer did not recognize it. I thought the battery might need to be charged. I plugged it into an external power source and still nothing happened. Then I plugged it directly into a port on the computer and it fired right up. Makes me think my original keyboard got unpaired somehow and if I had just plugged it directly into the computer it might have paired and worked.
I wonder what would have happened if the Genius Bar had given it some effort.
Anyway, I am up and operating now. Thanks. Jonathan.

That¡¯s awesome, Harry! I have seen Apple replace a lot of things in over three and a half decades of buying their stuff. They charge a lot for it, but they REALLY want you to be happy with it. That¡¯s how they get to charge you a lot for it. ::-) Jonathan On Oct 10, 2022, at 9:51 PM, Harry Jacobson-Beyer <hejb44@...> wrote:
