Re: How does my car know¡

Here is the Car Talk article about the pressure sensors, along with advice about where to get them replaced. (Hint: it's not the dealer.)

Tire pressure monitoring systems (TPMS) that use valve stems to read tire pressure work by incorporating wireless sensors within the valve stem itself (or very close to it, attached to the base). These sensors measure the tire pressure and transmit this information wirelessly to a receiver in your vehicle, which then alerts you through a dashboard light if the pressure is low.

?Thanks John.
Does it send it wirelessly? Or is the sensor connected by wires and permanently installed in the rim?

Harry, there is a valve stem with a sensor that reads the pressure & sends it to your car computer.

Sorta expensive to replace one but they are invaluable.
