Had a quick look on ebay, though to be fair join the rsgb and look in radcom for readers adds..
Sub ?200 gets you an ok hf transceiver on ebay..
And less in radcom.
Re antenna..as have also lived in similar situation ( long time ago) I can confirm that a rx loop inside will just about work, but don¡¯t expect miracles. The list of man made rf noise you will discover is endless.
