Is that a 43xx Broadcom chipset Joel? Opensuse Tumbleweed has a kernel module for that chipset.
I have never had any issues with printers or the printing subsystem.
You might want to look at Tumbleweed. It's a rolling release, stable but rolling. It rolls fast enough and updates or bugfixes get pushed quickly. It's got tons of Official Build Service 3rd party repos for radio and many other things. And I run a BTRFS file system here with /home on a separate XFS partition. That allows for easy snapshot rollback, hardly ever needed but there. And it's got a great user community, Discord, forums, Bugzilla, etc. I've been using Tumbleweed for years and I can't say enough good things about it. It's one of the hidden gems of the Linuxverse.
I run Plasma 6 (KDE) on the Wayland compositor here and it's been running great. Of course you can use any of the other DE too. It's rpm based and Fedora like so you'd likely feel at home.
