Re: RT-600

Did not know that.? Interesting.

I used to use the RT-100 tuner at the base of my 46-ft vertical mast, driving a 43-ft vertical, an 86-ft Inverted-L or a 136-ft Inverted-L¡ all with at least one but up to six 33-ft radials. ??But the RT-100 blew up. ?A friend who has health issues and can¡¯t go portable anymore gave me an SGC-237 while I was without a tuner.? And that is what is in the trailer right now.?

The radio in the trailer is a Yaesu FT-857D.? It is the only radio presently available that covers 160m ¨C 70cm all modes¡.. has a removable front control panel, and had a current drain well under 1-Amp.?

I have plenty of battery power ¨C now.. after rebuilding the power cabinet.? So the 1-Amp is less critical¡¡? This is my upgraded power cabinet.

In the mean-time, LDG took care of the RT-100 failure, and I picked up a second one at a tailgate for $75.? So I have two presently on the shelf.

We are about 90 minutes from rolling out on our next adventure ¨C a 10-day 4X4 event.? But I¡¯ll leave this message in my computer, and perhaps when I get back I¡¯ll look into it.? If you have suggestions on how to make it work, please do pass it on.? This info might be useful for another system I am building up.? THIS¡.. and a bicycle mobile are in the works.

Back when I was a young soldier, an ancient cigar-chompin sergeant told me ¡°People don¡¯t stop doing things because they get old.? People get old because they stop doing things.? I think he was 45 at the time.? Ancient for a soldier!? I retired from the army with 30% disability.? My army doc says I need to stay active as well¡.. Sooooo¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡.? I¡¯m 69 and still kicking.

If you are using a Yaesu radio with the ability to employ the ATAS-120 antenna, the LDG RT-100 can be controlled by the ATAS function of the rig without using the Bias-T box. My RT100 works just fine with my FTDX10 in ATAS mode, set it up, press the TUNE button.

I run all my tuners out at the antenna, not in the shack.? I have never done it with the 600 series.? Good luck.

I just purchased an AT-600 Pro II and want to mount it at the antenna inside a weatherproof enclosure.? Has anyone done this?

I'll provide power to it but wonder if it will tune and retune the vertical antenna when it senses a new RF signal.??
