Dennis, I? am a bit annoyed. I spent time looking at manuals and schematic diagrams to provide you an answer.
I asked:
- Does the CAT port work to a PC?
- Does the CAT port still work if the PC connection is via the tuner?
- Verify that the cable fully seats in the CAT connector on the FT897 - there is an issue here
- The settings of menu setting 19 and 20.
Without this info we can't help. And it's a bit short to say "it didn't contribute"
