Gents, I now have the missing French orders for Mirmillon and will run the turn as soon as I find enough time (I hope this week). For Attu, I am surprised to have so few Japanese orders (Marino, Markus, Stefen). I apologize if there is a problem and I missed some emails. Anyway, please send ou resend your orders asap please. Battle for Attu, GT19
Gents, I owe you once again some apologies for being so long. I had once again several issues, including a really serious one (as you know, my internet connexion was out of service for a month). Anyway, I have run game turn 19 and sent the reports. The show eventually goes on. Please issue orders for game turn 20 asap. With the decreasing distance, the next turns will probably be decisive and exciting. Good luck to all, Francis PS : I will run Mirmillon and Daito Shoto as soon as I get all the missing orders. |

New book worth reading
Gents, I have just finished reading "Handbrake", a book by Mariano Sciaroni & Alejandro Amendolara (Helion & Company) on Super Etendard operations during the 1982 Falklands War. It's very good. I highly recommand it to anyone that has an interest on the conflict. Best regards to all, Francis |

it's important to remind you of issues with Google Earth. The application has many good points (it's free, easy to use, ...) but is not a true GIS software. Please keep in mind that there might be an issue with the ruler : the measure of distances is sometimes wrong.

I found no big problem in the Harpoon game 'Mirmillon', but there are definitively in the Seekrieg / Long Lance* one. The measured distances are on average 18% longer than they are actually. It may have consequences in your assesment of the situation.

I am sorry if you already had issues due to a bad estimation of distances. I try to fix the problem and hope you will have actual distances on your next report. Anyway, I fail to undertsand what happens for the moment. It looks like that the problem happens when the distances are short and the location is far from the equator. If you know what to do, do not hesitate to help me.

Yet another problem
Gents, I am once again late, sorry. The reports for Attu (GT18) are almost ready, but there is a technical issue with the site that generates the kml. I am looking for a solution. The problem applies to other games. I will run Mirmillon as soon as the proble is solved, and Daito Shoto when I have Chinese orders. All the best, Francis |
