stainless pex crimp rings and crimp tools are pretty inexpensive - $20 for the tool - and IMO better than the slip-in style¡­ but you do need room to get the tool onto the connection¡­

I had a problem with the plastic tees that connected the water lines to the hot water heater. One developed a small crack which slowly leaked water in the port bilge on my 2001 lagoon 380. I replaced with brass tees (3/8) and used a heat gun to insert into the metric water hoses.

Lot easier that replacing the entire water line.
