I need to put a downhaul on the head of my mainsail. When dropping the main, the last 10' never makes it down. Not that big an issue to get it except when it is blowing 20 and there are 4' seas. It is NOT a sq top. Looking for what others have done. What type of rope, size, where did you attach to, how you lead it down the mast, and how you led it to cockpit. Am specifically interested in L380 owners on the how you led it back to the cockpit as the 380 mast step is in a 'well' and not flush with the deck. So putting a turning block at the base doesn't work well, one would have to be put into the mast itself. Complicates things. Thanks.
