Tripping on CW

 

Hello I have a M2 KT36XA flat on the 3 bands.
When I use the LA1K on CW with more than 180 watts, it trips, SWR start jumping. Using any other AMP is no problem.
?
Any ideas?

Need more info,

Yaesu FTdx5000 has a known issue.?

What is your txcver model?

What is the voltage supply? 220/120

Did you test on dummy load?

Hello Ron, unfortunately I don't have a 1K dummy load to test, but antena is 1.2 1.3 max. Other linear do not trip or make SWR jump. Measurements made also with a LP-100A.

Hi Barry txcvr is an Elecraft K4D, voltage is 220V, antenna is flat swr.
No big dummy here.

When you say using any other AMP, what are those amps? Are they also Solid State? Tube amps can go pretty much thru anything without obvious happenings, Solid State not so much. The LA1K is very touchy to issues with its protection.

You say no Dummy Load? That’s not going to help narrow it down.

?

Are you using the latest firmware? If not DL it from website.

?

Without a dummy load its going to be difficult to determine if it’s the amp, radio, cable, antenna.

Ray I like it a lot. My dream is to have a kpa1500 but I need near 10K to put one of those here in Chile.

Hi Barry, for instance my KPA500 works perfect at 600 watts, swr does not move. My DL is too small, i will need to get a bigger one.
?
I have the previous FW, i will update it.
?
Issue exists only in CW, near the end of band, with swr 1.3 max with 500w or more, auto tuner start finding solutions. Ill try with it bypassed.
