Re: Remote use

The big thing would be the ability to put the amp in standby so you can use the antenna tuner. The ability to power on and off would be a bonus as well.

Guys:

What would you want it to do? The amp already does a pretty good job of band selection if you don't have a radio that will work with the band selection inputs. The only other thing would be to enable/disable the amp, and I don't think there's a way to do that other than to enable or disable the PTT line going to the amp. With RS-BA1 you can of course control TX power so you don't really need to switch the amp in/out.

Personally, I'd like to see more communication with the amp so you can get data to and from it. Perhaps some menu control and enable could be one of those. But I'm a hard-core geek and just like gobs of data displayed for me to gawk at.

Please do. I'm on the website now. Sounds too good to be true.

Re: Remote use

I just emailed trx manager, I'll report back if I get a reply.

I guess not.

Remote use

Now that I have my new Flex 6400 that I can easily remote into, I was wondering if there's anything in the works for remote use of the LA-1K ?

Thanks for you replying, Dennis.? Yes, it's very frustration and disappointing when? new piece of ham gear fails.? I appreciate your thoughts and suggestion. I hope to have it on the way back to Palstar tomorrow.

Re: Low Power Output

Hello there Bob,
Try Keying amp in RTTY , then switch to SSB.?
Idle Drain Current ( ID ) s/b 2.1A.
If it's ~.9A you have a blown LDMOS chip.
rgds & good testing, Mike N7KR

Re: Low Power Output

Had something similar happen to my LA-1K after about an hour of use(it was just a few days old). One of the LDMOS's died. I called Palstar, we ran some tests and I was told to send it back. So I boxed it up and $45 later it was on the way to Palstar. With-in a week the amp was back in the shack. Palstar paid for return shipping. While I run mine off of 120v, it is used nearly all day long and has been cycled tens of thousands of times. I've even configured fans on both sides of the amp in a push pull configuration. I've only seen it hit 70c once. I guess what I am getting at is once they get yours working, you will not be able to kill the thing.

Good luck with it,
John / AI4FR
