Keep in mind that people don't often just sign up to this mail group and submit a post saying that it's working fine today, but if there's a problem they would be more likely to join the group and ask for help. So, I'll break that trend and say that my LA-1K and HF-AUTO are working fine today and that from what I've seen this is good equipment and the people at Palstar are always willing to help if you have a problem. I have no idea why, but if I am using ANT2, and switch bands, and switch antennas to ANT1, when I go to transmit, the LA-1K goes back to ANT2.? Then I can switch it again to ANT1, and it stays there.
I have no idea why it isnt staying on the ANT I have selected when I key up...but it apparently switches back to the last ANT position that was used for SSB. |

Re: White screen
开云体育Isn’t all your equipment supposed to be grounded together on a ground buss?? Or was it already that way, and you needed to add a second ground wire directly to the radio? ? From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]]

Tried plugging a cable into the Yaesu jack like suggested on here. It did nothing.? Ended up dissconnecting the keying line. It boots up then. Talked to Mark at Palstar. He had me run a ground wire from the Amp to the transciever. So far it has worked. Hope it keeps working. |

Re: Remote use
I wish we had a small box like the HF-AUTO-R to control the amp features...
as there is no official support on this and the TRX manager software is rather difficult, after the warranty period is over, I have the following idea to try. use a solenoid push type actuator to push a stylus pen which can toggle between standby and operate mode. of course the solenoid push force has to be gentle enough not to damage the touch screen and some sort of mounting is needed to properly align it to the OPR/STBY portion of the screen.? see this for the solenoid linear action... |

Yes - it is the .txt file in the zip folder. I just installed on Tuesday this week. On Thu, Jul 16, 2020 at 6:55 PM <davenlr@...> wrote: Is the firmware the text file in the zip?? Normally firmware is labeled .bin |

Yes, it's the txt file always had been with Palstar LA-1k On Thu, Jul 16, 2020, 3:55 PM <davenlr@...> wrote: Is the firmware the text file in the zip?? Normally firmware is labeled .bin |
Re: ALC
Hi Steve - there was a customer that asked a similar question, the answer from one of the engineers might help you or others so I'm posting it here:? ?
ALC is NOT required and should ONLY be used on SSB. It’s kind of a leftover from when transceivers had poor output power regulation. ? Most modern rigs need only -1.5V ?to -3V for ALC voltage to start reducing their power output. ? ALC setting is highly dependent on which transceiver is being used. Setup is a simple two-step process. ? I suggest, as outlined in the LA-1K owner’s manual FIRST to set drive level (with ALC set for minimum or disconnected on LA-1K). Drive would be set on CW for desired output (Example 800W) ? After setting for desired output power, ?switch to SSB mode. While speaking in microphone, slowly advance the ALC setting on the LA-1K until PEAK RF power output just slightly drops. This is the desired setting.? Any higher will degrade the transmit quality. ? Alternatively, this may be adjusted by looking for a small INCREASE in the transceiver’s ALC meter reading. ? These settings should be checked or readjusted when switching bands. |

开云体育Interesting... So it could be the LA-1K was not reliably detecting the
frequency? That might cause a problem also. Chuck - N8DNX

Re: Keying Relay Buffer Debate

开云体育Bill: I am using a Polyphaser. They work fine if they are selected for
the proper frequency and power range. There also needs to be
consideration for the amount of SWR that is expected on the line
since higher SWR translates to higher voltage peaks. The reason some protectors don't have problems is that they may
not be sensitive enough to protect at the needed level. As with
many things, it's a trade-off that you make when you select one.
There's other protector manufacturers that do a great job and lots
that are useless. Stay away from any that can't give you proper
specifications. That of course doesn't mean that a properly selected protector can't be having problems either from previous hits, moisture, or otherwise. I need to pull mine and service it. You can get parts for the Polyphasers. Chuck - N8DNX
