I spent some time at the Palstar booth at the Hamvention on Sunday and was pretty impressed with what I saw. The result was that I picked up an LA-1K to replace the AL-1200 I've been using for a while and that I sold that morning. Unfortunately I didn't sell enough of my mil equipment to also get an IC-7610, so I'll have to slum it with my IC-7300 for a bit yet. Regarding the change from the AL-1200 to the LA-1K, I didn't have ALC connected with the AL-1200 since there was no way the IC-7300 was going to overdrive that amp. So, I'm now trying to tie down the ALC base level adjustment on the LA-1K and am not sure yet what I'm seeing. I probably should also revisit the compression and mic levels on the 7300. Is anyone using an IC-7300 or similar that can give me some direction or general direction on setting the ALC with the LA-1K. It was funny though, I was testing the amp into my dummy load and when I switched to 40 Meters and didn't notice it had switched to my PRO-67B. Someone heard me testing and jumped in pretty much falling over himself to say how good it all sounded. Thought I'd better ID at that point. Palstar, that's for the great amp! 开云体育If any thing I get more.? At 50 watts from my Flex 6300 I am getting 1100? plus on the 20 and 17m bands.? I don’t know if it has changed since I never use more than 800w. 73, K3GC Gene ? Rich,? Thanks for your reply. Originally was using Icom ic-7700 built in meter and observed the swr spike. Subsequently
installed a Array Solutions Power Master meter between radio and amp input. This meter very fast and accurate measurements, verified swr spikes seen. Some around 5 to 1 swr. Always on cw/rtty/digi, never on ssb. Talked to Palstar rep, he explained the amp switching process. I won't attempt to relate what was said, hope Paul or Mark would respond here. However ?the radio is seeing something not liked in the amp switching process, again hope Factory folks will jump in here. With my IC-7700 being a solid 200w final, driving amp at 40 to 45w max, the swr spike probably not a issue. However, want to use the amp with a 100w Icom Pro 3 as well. No other issues with the amp, do like the LA-1K. Mike KB7ME |

开云体育Mike, I don’t always pay attention but yes, I have the same issue, At first I thought my SteppIR had not finished tuning but I watched it a few times and it had long stopped.? I cant honestly differentiate between modes but I am reasonably sure it’s been CW and FT8 where I noticed the SWR. ? The amp works well for me except it’s the noisiest amp I have owned. The relay for one and the fan is quick to come on ?and ramps to high speed quickly. Cools off quickly too.

After about a 3 week wait my new LP-100a finally showed up. Driving the LA-1K with 50 watts on SSB I'm seeing peaks just over 1200 watts ! I was impressed, assuming my new power meter is now the most accurate in the shack. While a little tough to read, the bar graph does seem close to what the LP-100 is showing.

开云体育You will love it. Had mine now for just a month, works great. I got the matching HF AUTO antenna tuner to go with it.? Very Happy with both. Just make sure you drive it with less than 60 watts. 开云体育Its pretty straight forward.? I have no issues with mine.? Its going to take some getting used to for me as I am not accustomed to having a fan come on so quickly and the relay is pretty noisy. Not sure why all manufactures don’t do quiet ?QSK. ? Beyond those two things it’s an A+
