Re: Route track with error ?
You don't seem to have any holes in the pads
you may also find it easier to see if you turn off the outline mode ANdy On Mon, 30 Dec 2024 11:23:38 +0100 "Lctech Lctech via groups.io" <lctech3000@...> wrote: Hello, |
Re: Route track with error ?
To me it looks like pins 3 and 4 of SW1 are not connected to anything in
the schematic, and therefore shouldn't be connected to anything on the PCB. If SW1 is one of those where 1 and 4 are connected internally, and 2 and 3 are connected internally, you still have to have all four pins on the schematic. A convenient way to do this would be to create a switch symbol with pin 4 overlaid on pin 1, and pin 3 overlaid on pin 2. That way your switch only appears to have two pins on the schematic, but on the PCB it has all four, with the internal connections automagically present (you still have to connect the internally connected pins with tracks, as you appear to be attempting to do). Hello, I have a problem with manual but also automatic route track design. As in the attachments, the design rule checker shows some errors. I tried sofar to change the values of the erroneous space in net class of the Board Configuration. Error still persists. Could I try something else ? Thank you. Hi Friedrick. Exactly which Omron relay symbol and 3D you are you searching for? May be I can help you. Il mer 25 dic 2024, 13:21 Frederick R. Vobbe <fvobbe@...> ha scritto:

Re: New to KI - Library Question
It's very easy now.
Open the file in the footprint editor, check and adjust if required. Then select save as. This will allow you to choose the library into which you want to save the footprint. The same process applies to the symbols using the symbol editor. As with all CAD systems you should never use any provided libs directly, rather you should copy the libs and symbols into your own directory structure, after checking that they are as you want. This protects you against changes to libs that you don't know about should you update the provided libs or kicad. For 3d models I think you just copy them into the 3d directory. Also note that kicad has project specific libs as well, so any custom adjusted parts can be stored there i.e. you might relabel the pins on a microcontroller to have meaningful names for that project. You can find out where kicad has put things with the preferences > configure paths command. Andy On Wed, 25 Dec 2024 09:40:59 -0500 "Frederick R. Vobbe" <fvobbe@...> wrote: This is helpful!? 开云体育This is helpful!? I'll have to read up on how to properly import
these. I appreciate this good intel. Never knew about the ECAD but
I can see how it will be very helpful, rather than needing to
redraw everything from scratch. On 12/25/2024 09:08, Dallas N4DDM via

Re: New to KI - Library Question
Frederick,
I took your Phonenix part number and searched for it on Mouser...? Just below the Datasheet link is a link to ECAD Model where you can get Schematic Symbols, PCB Footprints, and sometimes 3D models if they are not in the vast collection that comes with KiCAD...
?
You are in luck as all 3 are available as a FREE download...
?
There are YouTube videos that show downloading and adding these libraries to your design.

Re: Great holiday to All
开云体育Right now I'm on Windows 10-pro.? I'll be upgrading to 11-pro in February, when I change out several PCs. The only symbols/footprints I have installed are those which came with the download installation of the distribution.? The Omron relay seems to not be included. Interesting that I'm not one of the oldest.? In other groups I seem to be in the minority.? Perhaps it's because the type of work is not what younger people find interest in. Merry Christmas!? Fred

You don't mention what operating system you are using. There is a large repository of symbols, footprints and 3D models. I'm slightly surprised you don't already have it installed. BTW, you're not the oldest around here. Not by some way. -- Regards, tony |
Re: New to KI - Library Question
Kicad comes with a huge library, and as chris says it's quite easy to
make the footprints and symbols you need. However kicad has gained so much traction now that the major component vendors, mouser, digikey etc. are including kicad footprints as such like in their data downloads. Very often the 3d model is also there. Andy On Tue, 24 Dec 2024 11:24:07 -0800 "Frederick R. Welcome to KiCad! A lot of symbols and footprints are installed by default along with KiCad. SOMETIMES what you need will be in there - but when it is not, it is quite straightforward to * create a new symbol and/or footprint as you need, or * modify existing ones, and save them as a new one, particularly if they are 'close' to what you need. =) Check KiCad's online help for all the details on how to accomplish these tasks. ?
Is there a repository for symbols and footprints for KI?
?
My first attempt at using the program is to design a relay switching board and I need to find a symbol and footprint for a Phoenix terminal block (header), 3-pos, 90-deg, 5.08mm.?? (Phoenix p/n: 1757488)

Smoothing of Arcs Converted to Polygons
Hi,
I'm trying to create a P-shaped pad by editing a pad as graphic shapes. I've created the required outline as a set of straight lines and arcs, but when I convert these to a filled polygon, the arcs are approximated as two straight lines. Is there a way increase the number of straight lines beyond two, or do I have to do the approximation myself? Re: Jumpers and zero-ohm resistors
It all depends on how easy you want the user to make the selection...
?
Zero ohm or two pads close together require the user to have basic soldiering skills and access to those tools...? Do you really want it to be that hard to make a selection?? If/when they lift the pad(s) or lose the resistor before putting it back they are dead in the water...
?
I use combinations of 2-pin, 3-pin, and 2x3-pin headers and shunts so the user can add/move or remove a shunt to make a selection...? 99% of the time I use 100 mill headers but have been known to use the smaller metric ones when space is tight...
?
On the last page of my schematic, I have a dummy part for each color of shunt and how many are needed...? It is embarrassing to have a build of PCB and you can't ship them because you forgot to order the shunts...
