I usually have many projects which could be seen as belonging to one category, as of meters.
To start a new project in a category (in the category folder), I simply copy/past the project folder which is closest to the new one and give it a new name, like meter_v4.
Yes, the names of files in all folders of a category are exactly the same. I mean in every project folder of a category the files names are duplicated, like meter.pro, meter.sch, meter.brd, meter.cmp... etc. Only the name of their project folder needs to be unique.
For instance, I am not privileged to download the new versions of Kicad since long ago (please don't ask why). Fortunately, I still have?Kicad BZR2356 which is much better than having no Kicad at all. Although it is a very old version, it has many practical functions besides being very friendly.
