JMRI Loconet control of DCS240+
15
#digitrax
Environment is a Raspberry Pi 3B with bookworm, Java 17, JMRI 5.10 I recently replaced our club DCS200 (it died) with a DCS240+. There has long been a Pi3 running JMRI controlling the layout via Loconet. For that, in the connections panel I had selected DCS200 as the command station and Loconet-USB as the connection type. My question is now that I have the DCS240+ in place what selection do I make for the Command station? I still use Loconet-USB for the connection type. Selecting DCS240+ as the command station results in no Loconet activity from JMRI. -- Dale Gloer Jack of all trades at home and Southern Alberta Model Railway

Printing Switchlists
5
#operationspro
I've got 4 trains to run and I want to build the trains and print the switchlists for the engineers before the operating session starts. In doing so I noticed that one boxcar was a pickup and move by the first train thru that yard, but a second train had the same box car to be moved also. Am I doing this correctly or is there some way to avoid this occurring pls?

How do I move JMRI from one laptop to another laptop.
2
Hello. I am totally confused on how to do this. I'm using a Lenovo thinkpad and want to move Jmri to a newer Dell laptop. I'm using Jmri 5.8 and java 11. I have read the the files I need to move are in the preferences under file locations. The "users file location" name is C:/users/usr/JMRI/. When I open that file, how do I move it to the new laptop that has JMRI loaded on to it. I am the furthest from be a computer guy and do not want to start all over as it has taken more than 3 yrs. to set up panel pro with track diagram, block detection, signal etc. Could someone please help me using the most layman terms to explain how to do this. My comprehension of computer terms is very small. Thank in advance for any help. -- MARK TAYLOR

DecoderPro Opens every time as a new install
15
Team, I really need some help on this issue. I posted on it a couple weeks back and got zero replies. At the museum we have a Dell PC running Windows 10 and Java 11. Currently JMRI version 5.10 is running on the machine. Every time JMRI opens it is a new install running the set-up wizard where we have to choose the Sprogg unit, the com port, etc. It also does not remember that there should be a roster of locomotives. I uninstalled the JMRI software by selecting uninstall in the apps window. I confirmed that all directories are removed from the system. I re-installed JMRI. There is no change in the behavior. Save locos to the Roster, it recognizes them until the next time decoder pro is started and then it opens as a new install with the wizard wanting you to choose Sprogg, com port, etc. Once you do that it comes up with no roster. I'm at my wits end on this one. Can someone offer suggestions or ideas to try. George Ronn

Problem loading Bachrus Speedometer
5
#bachrus
Hello; I recently tried installing my Bachrus Speedometer on a(newer) laptop with JMRI on it. It has Win 10; JMRI 5.11.4, NCE Power Cab (latest chip v1.65b) all installed. Power Cab runs fine on system. I had trouble loading the supplied driver (from 2006), but after discussing it with a good friend who is a Windows Certified Technician, he walked me through a procedure to instal a "legacy" driver. Windows now sees the unit ( in Device Manager). I walked through the JMRI setup for Bachrus speedometer, all the way through to the (almost) End. This message appeared, which to me says there's something in JMRI that need updating...? As what JMRI need is WAAAAAY beyond my paygrade, is there someone out there (preferably a develope) who I could work with to resolve this? Jim Little MMR

New Dark mode issue
Folks,
I tried the version on Jenkins that includes "Dark Mode" ( JMRI.5.11.4plus+jenkins+20250328T2349Z+R78beda49484) and I found the following:
In the "Set Signal Mast" popup:
Tthe text is not visible and there is no <blank> available in the signal mast selection drop down.
I'll keep checking it out.? Otherwise it meets my needs and works so far.
Windows 11 Pro, Java 11.

Adding Signal Heads @ Dbl Slip using "Set Signal Heads at a Slip" Tool

#ssl
#layouteditor
Good evening Moderators and group: My setup: Win10, Digitrax PR3 Digitrax DCS210, DCS50 (throttle/ booster only), DT400, DT500 SE8C x2, BDL16 x2, SE74 x2, DS64 x4, UR90 x2, UP5 Signals are Digitrax SHABC and SH2AB Panel Pro 5.2+R760b98537f, java 11.0.19 The layout is essentially a reversing loop to reversing loop arrangement, with SSL installed over most of the layout and working correctly. I have a Layout Editor panel which correctly displays occupancy, powered turnout positions and signal aspects and correctly match what is displayed on the physical layout. There is 1 powered double slip that I am now trying to add SSL to using the "Set Signal Heads at a Slip" Tool. I used an earlier post by Dave Sand as a guide ... #233359. However, I get the following error: "Cannot set up logic because next signal (in or at the end of block "Block_1" is apparently not yet defined" There are 4 block boundaries defined (the slip is part of Block_1 as well), and signal heads at all of these boundaries. If I try to "Set Signal Heads at a Block Boundary", I get an error message that the signal heads in question are already in use on the layout diagram. I placed most of the signal heads on the layout diagram and created the SSL without using the "Set Signal Heads at a Block Boundary" or other tools ... could this be part of my difficulty? Perhaps it's time to move to SML? I would be grateful for any suggestions as to how to proceed from here. Thank you all, Paul Young

306 error message
Hi I'm trying to connect my dcs52 to Jmri. It's connected to the USB port (printer cable) on the dcs52 to a USB port on my computer. The device manager says it's connected on Com3. Decoderpro says Loconet is online, but when I try to read the decoder it says "Stopping due to error: Timeout talking to command station (306)". I have Windows 11 and got Java 17 to run Jmri. PanelPro New Feature - Panel Swipe Navigation on Tablet
10
Team, I have about 70 control panels and I navigate them using buttons with links. While this works fine, I can see my panel count only growing with time. The thought occurred to me of the possibilty of adding a swipe function to navigate from Panel to Panel from a web view (tablet). For example, if you could assign a Panel to a SWIPE GROUP then swiping right or left would take you to the next panel in the group. Does this sound like it would be useful to others? -- Many thanks in advance! Lock Control Panel Position on Tablet
12
Team, I've got a bunch of Control Panels that I view on Tablets all working fine and there is a slight annoyance that occurs when I inadvertently swipe the tablet screen and the whole panel moves about 1/4"-1/2" vertically and it also can also move horizontally about the same amount. See attached photos. Is there a way to lock the panel so that this doesn't happen or what can I do to prevent this? -- Many thanks in advance! Unable to Delete a Sensor; Then a Java Error Displays when Storing the XML
4
Problem Statement: Using the attached config. I try to delete this sensor: IS51 Show Route: Sawmill to Team 2 V2. On the Sensors panel, the item is not deleted but I get no error message. I've been fighting this for a few hours and I THINK I saw that, once I get this behavior, then no Sensors will be deleted from then on, until you restart PanelPro. When I store the modified config, I get the error message shown in the attached log. Resolution: I finally figured out that, at one time, on the Route: Sawmill to Team 2, I had assigned the IS51 sensor as a "Sensor that activates when all Route Turnouts are correctly aligned". When I removed that association, I was able to delete IS51 and all was good. So, I'm okay now. Followup Request: I think that PanelPro should have detected that IS51 was used by the Route and should have stopped the Delete action from proceeding. I've seen it give a message when it detects that a Sensor is used somewhere and then stopped the Delete from proceeding. I actually did check the "Usage" tab for IS51 before trying to delete it and it said it wasn't used anywhere.

Unable to turn dark mode on
6
#preferences
Hi all, I recently started to use JMRI and I can control my trains just fine, but I would like to set de display to dark mode. My system info: A raspberry pi 4 running on raspberry pi OS bookworm, JMRI version 5.10 and JAVA version 17. I read on the JMRI page that dark mode has been implemented some versions back already, but I've been unable to find the button mentioned on jmri.org The following was mentioned on jmri.org: There's a new "DarkLAF HC" dark-mode setting for the display. To use it, select Settings then Display, then click the button for "DarkLAF HC". When I go to the settings and select display there is no button for DarkLAF HC, I added a screenshot of this. Anyone an idea what's going wrong? Am I in the wrong menu or is something else wrong?

SML for Reversing Loops
2
I constructed a simple layout editor panel with two back to back reverse loops. The "auto generate signaling pairs" only created 1 pair. I created the other 7 manually and did enough sanity checks (occupancy and turnout states) to convince myself that the signal aspects work as expected. Is there a problem for JMRI signal pair recognition in this somewhat strange configuration or am I approaching the problem incorrectly? I uploaded the panel file to a problems being worked on folder, Snorkel, if someone is interested. -- -Ralph

YouTube Video of JMRI Running Auto Train
7
OK, here's an off-the-wall question: I had a break in my hobby from ten years ago to about two years ago. I am now back to working on JMRI and trying to automate some trains. I rememberr seeing a YouTube video of: 1. a gentleman somewhere in the UK demonstrating how he runs JMRI. 2. He showed a portion of his layout with a view showing (I think four) monitors, displaying JMRI information, with the train visible in the video. 3. He clicked on a train on one of the monitors. I don't remember if on a track diagram or in a table of trains. 4. He clicked on where he wanted it to go, I think this was on a list of possible destinations, and showed that the train then drove to the destination. It was a short movment and all visible without the camera moving, as I recall. Problem is, I can't find that video. I know I watched it at llong time ago,, most likely more than ten before my hobby break. I have no idea how old the video was when I saw it, in fact. Here;s the $64,000 question: Can anyone here stee me to that video?
