"Error Initializing PanelPro" upon JMRI Startup
Howdy, After not opening JMRI for a few weeks, I tried the other day to open PanelPro (to use OperationsPro) and promptly got a completely blank popup entitled "Error Initializing PanelPro" that I had to use Task Manager to close. Have tried multiple times since and even uninstalled then reinstalled both Java and JMRI and still get the same error. I've searched this group and the manual to no avail. Running Java 11 and JMRI 5.2 on Windows 10, afaik Any ideas how to resolve? Thanks, Isaac |
Isaac, Upload the messages.log file to the group's ProblemsBeingWorkedOn file folder. ?It will be located in the "C:\Users\<username>\JMRI\log directory. Unless you're trying to connect to your NCE USB device via Bluetooth, it would seem that you have a COM port/configuration issue:

Steve, Thanks for the reply! If it's trying to connect via Bluetooth, I didn't intend it to. I exclusively use OpsPro without any connection to the layout (using no other PanelPro functionality) so I certainly don't need it to connect either. With it still erroring before I get to the preferences screen, any idea how to resolve? Best, Isaac |
Isaac, The cleanest approach is to reset the JMRI user data. ? Rename "C:\Users\<username>\JMRI" to something like "JMRI-240110". ?When you start PanelPro, it will be like a first time user. ?The initial configuration will be created with the "My JMRI Railroad" profile in the "My_JMRI_Railroad.jmri" directory. If you will NEVER create sensors or turnouts, you can use the "None" System manufacturer. ?Otherwise use the "simulator" "System selection" for your command station. ?Other preferences can be changed as needed. The final step is to copy the "operations" directory from JMRI-240110\<profile directory> to JMRI\<profile directory>.
