Double Slip Problems
#layouteditor
I am having problems with two Double Slips - P2a/1b and P10/9. I have carried out checks on P10/9 it down to the Layout editor to map where the problem potentially lies and have narrowed the Layout Editor. Please find the pictures describing this at?/g/jmriusers/album?id=231878.
The panel is in the background, The Turnout Table is at the top with only the turnouts of interest visible. Below and to the left is the MERG FCU showing the received messages on CBUS and the fial window is the MERG CBUS Console. I have posted the events as they progresed through the check. The first image describes how I set the Double Slip - both P10 and P9 in the Closed condition (Branch to Platform 3.) At every stage I checked the physical state on the layout and confirmed that this, and the messages, conformed with my expectations (Note: I did add two sensors to P9? to check if there was any quirk. As can be seen, and from I described above, P9 is not acting as it should. Just for the record, I have made extensive changes having previously set the turnouts to Internal addresses and converted these to MERG Node addresses. These changes may have caused problems within JMRI. I also realise that I need to tidy up to create a consistent approah throughout. My current panel file can be found here.? Thanks for reading? Peter, Turnout P1b has Inverted selected. ?I try to avoid using Inverted if at all possible. ?It is a potential issue I like to avoid. The P2a/P1b slip definition is messed up. ?The Turnout A/Turnout B states are inconsistent. ?You don't have a Thrown/Thrown pair. ? suspect that you want the B-D route to the be primary. ?I would make the first row Thrown/Thrown and the third row Closed/Closed. I noticed that some turnouts, including slip turnouts, appear to be sharing event ids. ?Turnout P2a (MT-N266E2) uses feedback sensor "P2a @ ON End" (MS+N266E2). ?Since I know nothing about MERG, this might be valid. Hi Dave
Great to hear from you again.? Thanks for looking through and commenting on P2a12b. I shall put that right. Regarding Sensors, again your comment is correct. I changed strategy as can be seen in the North ladder turnouts, Sensors are taught to the Servo modules and I standardised on those turnouts in the North Ladder to use events 10 upwards, in pairs, for each servo to avoid any potential clash with servo and Sensor events (each module can have a maximum of 8 Servos attached). This is part update I planned to carry out when I resolved the P9/10 issue. I also discovered that I did not have a proper handle on assigning the A and B turnouts. This I found when I built up the two slips in the North Ladder. When I first assigned them to these Slips, I took the end with the 'blue connector as being the 'A' turnout and it resulted in problems when testing. I reversed the assignment in the slip Edit Dialog and this cleared the problem. I had in mind to change P2a/1b and will also do that now. I am looking forward to completing the layout panel and then I shall start to implement the signalling that you tutored me on.? Perhaps Steve will help me with the North Ladder Slip.? Best wishes Peter |
