1.0.9 test version, help requested
I'd like to request your help. I've posted a JMRI 1.0.9 test version for Windows at
http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/jmri/JMRI.1.0.9.exe
I'd _really_ like to know if this one is OK to call

Not if you do "program on the main" (ops mode programming)

Most printer cables are actually USB<->1284 parallel ports. But just
like on the PC, the driver stuff is hackish at best and non-standard.

Re: DecoderPro & skinning
Welcome to the group.
Pardon my ignorance, but what's a "skinning" program?
Who is the manufacture and what are the model numbers of the
decoders that aren't listed? Can you read CV's 7 and 8 and

Re: DecoderPro & NCE
Hi-
Alex and I are working on solutions that will address this. I have my OmniPort
board that is itching to go to the board house. It is very general, and has
RS232 and a minibooster onboard, so it

EasyDCC does the same thing.
I thinking about setting up a second DCC 'system' just for programming. It
could be a very simple device such as the DIY device discussed here recently

Jon, Bob,
I can verify that NCE cannot program decoders on the programming track
with the railroad running. Even though there is a separate
programming track, putting the commnad station in

I don't know of any that have parallel ports, but perhaps there's one or two models.
Keyspan (and perhaps others) make USB-to-parallel-port adapters. I don't know what their firmware/software looks

Do any Macs have parallel ports? For Windows it should work. For Linux/Unix it
_should_ work, but software for parallel ports is sometimes ad-hoc so it's
iffy.

Re: Maybe the last test version before 1.1?
I think that's due to the way that the NCE command station hardware works. It seems to turn off the drive to the main track when it's put in programming mode, and then turn it back on when it's taken

I've seen a javax.comm implementation for parallel ports at Sun for Windows, I think. I don't recall seeing one for Linux or Macintosh anywhere, but perhaps they do exist.

Does this DIY project have the ability to process decoder read back
acknowledgement current pulse? If not it should be added. Perhaps take the

A serial port is a more widely supported standard than a parallel port. It
works with Windows, Mac, Linux/Unix, etc (there's probably not an OS/platform
that doesn't support RS-232 ports). A

I had one die while sitting on a shelf for about 8 months. It was my spare, so I wasn't using it. Unseating and reseating the chips (I had them in cheap sockets) fixed it, so perhaps I was using
