Re: Decoder pro cant read decoder
You can’t read decoders on the main. You must use the program track. What command station are you using? This loco probably has a Tsunami-1 decoder, which requires a program track booster like

Re: Decoder pro cant read decoder
While not impossible, it’s VERY challenging to correctly change addresses on the main. Best avoided at all costs (you can easily end up with your loco misprogrammed!) Set the address ON THE

Re: Decoder pro cant read decoder
That means decoder pro is looking for the engine on the programming track when it’s on the main . The ‘program on main’ is selected but whited out. Since i cant read the decoder i cant get the

Re: Decoder pro cant read decoder
First off, no DCC System will READ on the Main without additional hardware. Second These Athearn engines used the older Tsunami decoder and they require a Program Track Booster (PTB-100) to READ on

Dave - thanks. Even that tidbit is great for me - I had not separated out 'operations' from 'dispatch/automation'.? Right now i am more interested in the latter... -p

Re: Upgrading #upgrading
The install program and launch program are 32 bit, that way you dont need 2 jmri installs. At execute time it evaluates the 32/64 conundrum. Steve G.

Sorry i misread your message. I did place the Athern big boy on the programming track and selected new loco and read the decoder. Got no response and error message about an acknowledgement. Thus i

Re: Decoder pro cant read decoder
Sorry but placing the engine on the main and selecting new loco then ‘read type from decoder’ gives a message that there is no loco on the main line. I can run the engine on the main using address

Re: Upgrading #upgrading
Nope! On my Win11 layout computer, the 64-bit Java is in C:\Program Files, and JMRI is in C:\Program Files (x86). I (almost!) always use the default paths when installing software, so that's where

Dale, Just one comment, and that is that JMRI has full support for the new NMRA LCC standards if you have any interest in that. Getting LCC equipment to interface with Train Controller is convoluted

Ken, Isn't that a question of whenever he is using 64bit or 32bit Java? If Java is 64bit, I would assume JMRI to be in C:\Program Files\JMRI and if Java is 32bit, I would assume JMRI to be in

The SignalPilot and SwitchPilot are two different things, I assume the SignalPilot can't use the SwitchPilot definition. Since there is no definition in JMRI for the SignalPilot you will need to wait
