Travis, I doubt that JMRI will attempt to make a connection to the broker until it has an MQTT device created. - Dave Mc.

Travis, When did it last work for you? What MQTT devices have you set up? What channel name do you have? If you have the wild card on the end of the channel name, remove it, it no longer applies.
