I am hoping I can implement jmri - serial - to an arduino mega with sensor shield - -to a 16 channel relay board. JMRI turnout status from the table will drive a relay channel. An ac source will be

Correct. The iPad 1 is so far out of date it is almost useless. Gave mine away over 2 years ago. Basically when any device, computer, tablet, or phone will not update to the latest operating system it

I would assume the iPad 1¡¯s are no longer getting software updates due to hardware reasons. Just like the first iPods are not. David Klemm Sent from my iPhone Xs Max ________________________________

The iPad 3 is IOS 12.3.1. The iPad 1s are both 9.3.5. Both of the 1s say the software is up to date. Does it not accept later versions? Not sure how to tell if Safari is up to date, as I thought that

What are the iOS versions of the various iPads? Is Safari up to date? If the iPad 1 is stuck at an older version, see if you can download and try Chrome via the App Store. Bob -- Bob Jacobsen

I've not been persuaded by dead rail no-wiring arguments in scales as small as HO.? Apart from the battery physical space and replacement issues for prime movers, I haven't seen an economic argument

Re: IR Block Occupancy Sensors - Entrance and Exit
John P, You would basically using a zero resistor on the wheel sets. If I was doing something like that, I'd likely go the route of normal detection (usually a 10k resistor) and put a DCC signal on

Ken Thank you again, all you do appreciated. I was being slightly provocative. My ambition is to build a dead rail system with RC control of DCC locos, then I could divide the tracks up into blocks

Re: IR Block Occupancy Sensors - Entrance and Exit
John P, You are correct. Real world signal systems tend to have someone around in charge. So things like a reverse move would be known and effectively the system is told that's what is going on.
