Re: Exporting locomotive roster #roster

The export roster also allows you to make copies as backups of the roster for storage on thumb drives, the cloud, etc. Imagine that?, someone making a backup file of their important information. What will the world think of next!?!?!

Excel .xlsx files are basically XML anyway.

Well

I guess it allows an entire roster (and all components) to be coped from one place to another as ONE file. Much easier than manipulating all the individual files

Oh, and if you're trying to import the roster OVERVIEW into Excel, are you aware that Excel can open xml files? It doesn't always do the best job, but what it does do may be sufficient for what you need

In fact, what exactly is it that you are wanting to do??

All,
?
DecoderPro's File - Export Complete Roster appears to make a .zip file, with .xml files for the complete roster and each individual loco entry in a Roster subdirectory.
?
The purpose of this is unclear as it appears to be usable only to the corresponding DecoderPro File - Import Complete Roster. In which case, why not just copy the native files?
?
The individual Loco File - Export can make a .csv file, but only includes actual CVs. The Roster Tab info is not included. Too bad.
?
Perhaps someone with knowledge can share the thinking behind this coding?
?
