Hi
Thanks for that great explanation. So it would seem that I have the right equipment for the signal system and I have made the changes that have been suggested.
I think I am missing something because my signals still don't function.
Do you have a DT602 throttle? That can be used to ensure that you have the signals set up correctly, and test the hardware, no matter which of the two primary "modes" you choose, without even running JMRI.

Do you have the SE74 set in "SE8C-mode" (i.e. Turmout-controlled) or "Aspect-mode") (i.e. NMRA Extended Accessory Decoder-controlled)? It makes a difference!

If using the SE74's "Aspect-mode", have you defined JMRI "DCC Signal Head"s using the JMRI "DCC Signal Decoder" Signal Head type? Have you used the JMRI "Signal Heads" table to try changing the "Appearance" of the JMRI Signal Heads? Does the hardware change appropriately? Have you defined "Signal Mast"s which specify the "mast driver type" of "Signal Head Controlled Mast"? Can you control the Mast "aspect" using the Signal Mast Table? Can you control the actual signal mast hardware to give the appropriate aspects from the "Signal Mast" Aspect settings?

If using the SE74's "SE8C-mode", have you defined JMRI "Signal Head"s using the JMRI "SE8C 4 Aspect" type? Have you configured the SE74 to use the fourth aspect as "Dark"? Have you specified the correct two "turnout" numbers for each head? Have you used the JMRI "Signal Heads" table to try changing the "Appearance" of the JMRI Signal Heads? Does the hardware change appropriately? Have you defined "Signal Mast"s which specify the "mast driver type" of "Signal Head Controlled Mast"? Can you control the Mast "aspect" using the Signal Mast Table? Can you control the actual signal mast hardware to give the appropriate aspects from the "Signal Mast" Aspect settings?

Trying to go much further gets too-far into "Digitrax debugging", which generally is not appropriate for this list...
