Ken H,
I've done this in the past. It involved editing the xml file.
1. Open panel file in a good plain text or xml aware editor. On Unix like
systems, I still use VI. Windows, Notepad with wrap turned off.
2. Find the panel you want to clone.
3. Copy/paste that whole stanza for that panel, match the opening/closing
braces. Name of the stanza will depend on the type of editor used for that panel
creation.
4. In the first line of the copy, edit the name value.
5. Save file as new file.
6. Open that panel file in JMRI.
7. In the original named panel, trim off the extra stuff.
8. In the cloned named panel, trim off what you left in the original panel.
9. Use the Translate to shift the parts left to the upper left corner of the
clone panel.
10. Adjust size of both panels.
11. Save to another file name.
12. See if it worked.
But as they say "here be monsters" as one character out of place and the whole
thing won't work.
