Not enough information. The possible NCE systems are:
- Power Pro (metal box with a 9 pin serial port on it). Usually includes a Pro Cab throttle.
- Power Cab (says that on the throttle) standalone. No extra box, just a fascia item (known as a Power Cab Panel), with a wall-wart.
- SB3/5 (plastic or metal box, no serial port).
- DCC Twin (unlikely you've got that).
Required hardware and JMRI setup is vastly different.
Using a USB adapter between computer and plug in panel on NCE system.
Not enough information. The possible USB adapters are:
- USB-Serial cable (with 9 pin plug). Used only for Power Pro system.
- NCE USB board (with cab bus cable). Only way to connect the other systems. Unsuitable for use with Power Pro.?
Power up the NCE for power on tracks. Start Decoder Pro. Place engine on tracks, start Decoder Pro. Set for programming on main. Select "read from decoder".?
As Marc has already pointed out, no NCE system can "read from decoder" in Program on Main.
Program Track mode is only available for:
- Power Pro with USB-Serial cable (with 9 pin plug).?
- Power Cab standalone with NCE USB board.
Program Track mode is unavailable for:
- Power Pro with?NCE USB board.
- SB3/5 or DCC Twin.
