If that system is running a JRMI version prior to 4.17.x, update date it,? There were several issues with PREFERENCES and DEFAULTS.
What is nice about JMRi and NCE is that the NCE system is polled for a response and will eventualy time out if no response then both Service mode and OPS mode will go from GREEN to RED as unavailable
This is not the case with several other systems.? Other systems, as long as the Com port is valid (and present), they are happy even thou nothing might be at end of cable.? The indications will be GREEN.? Perfect example is JMRI and Digitrax. the Command Station is not polled.? Set Preferences to a valid port that, unfortunately, does not have the Command Station at the end of it, you get all GREEN to go indications and 306 errors,
