Java 1.8.0_101(en)
JMRI version 4.16
Digitrax PR4 using Com port 3
Digitrax DCS100 as command station

Ran the batch file "installtest.bat" as admin & it did not run correctly.

The program has been running fine (as far as I can tell) except DecoderPro\Edit\Preferences aborts out of the program.
This the path from the DecoderPro icon on my desktop:??"C:\Program Files (x86)\JMRI\LaunchJMRI.exe" apps.gui3.dp3.DecoderPro3
This is the staring point:??"C:\Program Files (x86)\JMRI"
I just noticed that I am running in Windows 8 compatibility mode???
Is the possibility the path for JMRI did not get set up/set up correctly?
I installed the JMRI program in July & I do not remember changing anything related to using anything but the default paths/locations.
I just search my second drive & I found JMRI Ver 1.1 from 2002 & JMRI Ver 1.3.10 from 2004.
They are in the down loads folder but not installed - time to clean house.

I did make the mistake of plugging my USB cable from computer to the PR4 into a different USB port & that made a mess.
I ended up with two com port 3's & ended of disabling/deleting both in Device Manager & then re-booted the P/C.
All better since then.
I do not even remember if I ever looked at the Preferences pane after installing JMRI.
I did look after the double com post fiasco but figured I'd get to figure that out at some time.
I am building a new table/layout so the train running is done on a 4 ft test track.
Also minor running at a local train club I just joined.
Any suggestions as to how to get the preferences pane to be displayed?
I am considering doing the update to the latest test version of JMRi with the hope that installing a new version will fix the preferences pane problem.
I'm guessing that is not a given that it will fix that problem?
Thanks - Dennis Munro
Waiting for the snow to hit over the weekend.
