Locked Re: LokSound v4 Decoder Sound Refuses to work

John,?
What version of LokProgrammer software are you using?
Also, what is the 'standard error' ?

If the LokProgrammer did not complete the write of the sound data, it will not work.?
The sound part is different from the cv part. The cvs give you control over the locomotive and can be changed and massaged with either LokProgrammer or JMRI. But JMRI cannot touch the sound part at all, nor can it read or write the sound files. Those are proprietary to LokSound.

Did you try a firmware upgrade to the decoder? Sometimes forcing a firmware upgrade (even if it is the latest already), will 'unstick' the decoder and allow you to write the sound file.?

Make sure you have chosen a v4 sound file. If you have chosen a Select file, it will not load. Or if your decoder is really a Select, a v4 file will not load into the select.

Some sound projects use Function 1 as the toggle on or off for the sound. Primarily European, but I have a heisler steam project that is set up that way.

Hope all that helps.

There are others who are far more knowledgeable who can help you further, but perhaps some of what I have answered will get you going.

I have a v4 decoder where the sound will not work. When I received it, sound functioned. I'm trying to change to another sound file (ALCO 12 cyl. 251C). I first tried writing with my loksound programmer. It refused to finish the write (gave the standard error) and I tried it many times, read works fine. DCC motion, forward and reverse, is fine, but no lights. I did a reset of the decoder making sure the defaults checkbox was checked. Tried again, no joy. I was able to read the decoder with no problems. During the read the engine moved forward and headlight worked.

I then generated a CV file for JMRI, changed over to JMRI, read the file in and then wrote the entire CV sheet with no problems. Still no sound. DCC motion, forward and reverse, is fine, but no lights. I did try F8 to get the sound going but nothing happened. I restarted LokProgrammer and read the decoder again with no problems but the sound tab showed no sound files in the lower right corner (I'm confused about that as I don't know what that means).

I am new to the programmer but not to JMRI and I'm trying to learn the programmer to support our club. Help? Ideas??
