1) Preferences->Defaults has nothing set to Infernal.
2) Preferences->Connections does not have System Connection set to Simulator.
Possibility (1) is the most likely. It would most likely have occurred due to a previous failure to open a connection. If there is no alternative to Infernal, you currently have a problem with the connection to your DCC system and you need to resolve the connection problem before proceeding. If an alternative is available select that, restart JMRI and try again.

My train club is using Window 10, Nce with a Sb5. For the last two years we have used JMRI version 3.1 with no problems but now When using WiThrottle the cell phone shows as being connected as is the engine number we wish to,operator but the engine will not respond. We have check the router and it seems to be working, the Nce interface light is on. In the past we removed JMRI version 3.1 or 4.1 and re-installed. But now ?there is no change.
