Depending on how model train automation development proceeds, you have to consider whether and if,? how, a passenger station would publish it's availability, platform length and passenger access side(s). Putting the fixed info in a more complex customized route definition is one way, but it then presumes the finer details of the train operation is centralized, rather than distributed.
It's easy to control the stopping of a train remotely in response to a signal. Opening the sliding doors of all or some of the cars, on the correct side, and stopping at different positions along the platform, depending on train length, not so much.
