Re: iPhone plays dead
If the case is that you let it go to sleep and can¡¯t wake it up, then set it to never sleep. After a period of use, turn it off when you¡¯re not using it and see if you can wake it up then. The bad

Thanks Bob, As I told Jerry, this happens when I am not actively using it, when the screen is normally dark. It just will not wake up.

Re: iPhone plays dead
Thanks Jerry, I am sorry that I wasn't clear. The screen is black, as it should be when it is "sleeping" but nothing that I can do will wake it. It doesn't happen when I am actively "using" it, only

Re: iPhone plays dead
I¡¯ve had the same case on my XS for a couple of years. As of late, I believe it is giving me some problems with the screen becoming unresponsive. Especially after a phone call when I find I can not

Re: iPhone plays dead
By ¡°become unresponsive¡± do you mean the phone freezes? The screen is still on but you can¡¯t get it to do anything? Or does it shut down completely? Go black? What is the battery charge level

It is in the same case that it has been for over 2 years. What do you mean by "the proximity sensors"?

Re: iPhone plays dead
Check Settings> Touch> Tap (screen) to Wake is on. Also any button should wake it. As a last resort, find the Back Tap setting and turn it on to something. I think it might be in Accessibility. Brent

Is it in a case? Some will interfere with the proximity sensors and cause weird things to happen. Bob

Software updates are commonly a tactic for better device reliability. Is anything holding you back from upgrading to iOS 16?

The hands-down favorite used to be Dragon. However, they exited the Macintosh market. Apple has licensed their technology, and that¡¯s what you see built-in to the Mac OS, but Apple hasn¡¯t

Correct. The process was: reinstall the OS and then migrate apps and settings from a previous backup. The previous backup allows me to recover the preferences that had been changed. Paul
