Re: mail help needed
Best to block remote content to stop the "web beacons". It's only an issue with HTML in e-mail.

开云体育Just a thought, but can you print out the form, fill in the circles, then either take a picure of it and send it back in whatever format you want, or if the place has a fax number and if you have a fax machine, send it to them that way.Ellen

Re: Urgent request for .pdf/Preview help
开云体育John’s I’m curious what the value is for you of taking screenshots, editing JPEGs, and recombining as a PDF. That sounds like a lot of unnecessary extra work to me. On Jul 12, 2023, at 10:14, John Hay via groups.io <OceanCity@...> wrote:

Hi Bob, Well, certainly not quick and easy, but I've resorted to taking screenshots of the PDF as .jpgs and then, as you suggest editing in Preview. Then, I think I saved the first .jpg in Preview as a PDF, and then I think I dragged in all of the other .jpgs, and saving the multi-page PDF as a new PDF? Sorry. It took some time, but somehow I think it worked. Or, better yet, as Brent just posted, if your app will let you, just add a text block somehow and type and "X" and then repeat as needed.? Brent's way is definitely faster if you can make it work.? Cheers, John |

Re: Urgent request for .pdf/Preview help
开云体育I recommend not trying to fill the circles and deciding that an X is sufficient. use your markup toolbar to add a text box. Type an X. Drag it over a circle you want to mark. Option+drag the X to copy it to other circles. On Jul 12, 2023, at 09:15, Bob Gerard <rowerbob@...> wrote:

Urgent request for .pdf/Preview help
开云体育I have to fill out some medical forms sent to me in .pdf format. My 2020 iMac, is running macOS 13.4.1 (a) By clicking on [Form Filling] in the Preview toolbar, I can type in text. What I can’t do is check or fill in the round blanks, like these: Is this possible in Preview? ? I tried Adobe Acrobat but it appears you have to have a paid account to edit a .pdf. Can anyone suggest a free app to use to fill in forms like this? I have Skim.app on my Mac but can’t get it to fill in the circles. Re: ThanRe: [iomug] mail help needed
No, Ellen. If you open an email from someone or some company you don’t know. That is when you stop and delete the email. You DO NOT OPEN any attachment that came with it.

Thank you! I have a little url top right that says “load content directly” and that fixed it.

I have to press it or each unloaded email. I don’t know what happened to change it or what I pressed to change it. is there a settings to permanently fix it? If it is to prevent malware, not sure that will help because if I cannot see it then I’d have to load thee content to see that it was malware? So how would that help? Re: mail help needed
The reason you might have turned that off, might have been to avoid malware or malicious content.

Re: God-Awful Photo Library mess
开云体育For anyone following this thread, I found some instructions online as to how to force a sync of Photos among devices.*** Here are a few ideas to test. Much of what I'm going to suggest may well have been done, but check to make sure. There is a lot to go through and I'm sorry for that; but I assure you it's all relevant. :) On your MacBook, check out these settings: Firstly, Open Photos app > now use the Keyboard shortcut - Command plus comma - to enter Photos Preferences > Click on "iCloud" and make sure "iCloud Photos" is ticked. Mac > System Settings > Apple ID > iCloud > Photos On (May need to tap on Show All to find it). Whilst there, please tell me if "Optimise Mac Storage" is turned On or Off. Ideally, it should be Off, but if it's On - LEAVE it alone for now. Next, same place, but just below: you will see "Account Storage". Alongside is "Manage". Click on that and tell me what you see there. In particular, it will tell you how much Storage Space is available to you. And underneath, you will find how much Storage Space is being taken up by Photos and Backups. (This is important particularly if "Optimise Mac Storage" is On). ____________________________________________________________________________________ On iPhone & iPad > Settings > Photos >" iCloud Photos" is Ticked. On iPhone & iPad > Settings > Tap on Owner's Name (Apple ID iCloud+ Media & purchases) > iCloud > Show All > Photos On. And below this > iCloud Backup On. Again on iPhone & iPad > Settings > Mobile Data > Turn Off (for the moment) to restrict syncing to WiFi and then Tap on Mobile Data Options > Data Mode - Make sure Low Data Mode NOT ticked. You may well have done this, but it pays to be sure. The purpose of the above is to force Syncing by WiFi only. This is vastly quicker than Mobile Data and cheaper as it's not using that service. This is a temporary measure until we get the Syncing over and done with. Then Mobile Data can be turned On again. Next, still on iPhone & iPad, just check your iCloud Storage limit in case that's the cause of the slow down. I know we did that for the Mac (Account Storage > Manage), but it's important to do this for iPhone & iPad because there seems to be a discrepancy about storage on each device. To do this: On iPhone, iPad - Settings > Apple ID > iCloud. At the top alongside iCloud/iCloud+ you should see xGB of yGB used where x is the current amount stored within iCloud Storage and y is the amount of iCloud Storage you have or have paid for. Syncing needs WiFi (in fact we have insisted that WiFi only will be used for syncing as we have shut down Mobile Data for the time being). As Jake said, Syncing is low priority and there's a lot of photos (and possibly videos) to be synced via the iCloud to/from Mac, iPhone, iPad. I've set you a lot of work to do, but I'm not sitting next to you and we need a good starting point.
