Hello All,
For the last week or so, the strangest thing has been happening:
I have downloaded a couple of picture files (jpeg) and after the download completes, i'm left with an Application. You know, the little diamond-shaped app icon. When I click on it, I get a dialog which states "The application xyz.jpg could not be launched, Error -39" or something similar.
I thought it was an iCab problem at first. I'm on an LC475 (OS7.6.1). This is following years of trouble-free downloads. Now, I was online with a cousin last night on AOL Instant messenger (yuck) and the same thing happened, and, when i wrote back the old "sorry, it didn't come through", she re-sent as a Windows bmp (yuck, again) and the same result, THEN, she sent a MS doc file of the pic, and after watching a 1.3MB file being transferred, all that was in my designated download folder was a 32k application, the same old (new) thing.
As if that weren't odd enough. Earlier in the week I kept one of these little 32k so-called applications (alien pic files? I don't know) on my hard drive, and the next tme clicked on a Graphic Converter document (jpg), instead of Graphic Con launching, I got the same bloody Error39 message...upon trashing the oddball app, GCon launched as usual....
I am at, or near, my wits end...any ideas, even the most absurd, will be gratefully entertained..
All the Best,
BrianS
