Unlike products like Apple's Pages, FreeOffice offers excellent compatibility with Microsoft format files, both opening them and saving in the Microsoft format! It may suit your needs perfectly, and you can't beat the price.
I've installed FreeOffice for some clients and they can't tell the difference between it and Microsoft Office!
