Re: backing up iphone

It is an early 2008 MBP, running 10.7.5. At the moment I have no interest in upgrading the OS.

?Brent,

Curious as to how old your Mac is that you can¡¯t back-up your phone to it.

I have a Xs Max which is backed up to a 2010 midyear MacBook Pro. I¡¯ve always
though my antique was the oldest machine around.

Increase your iCloud storage. 50 GB for 99 cents.

My iPhone is the 64 GB model, it is a more than half full and backs up to my iCloud account, since I don¡¯t have a Mac new enough for it to work.

Is there a straight forward way to back up an iPhone toan external drive using time machine?

I found some ways on browser search but found them complicated.

I was backing it up to older computer using iTunes but all of a sudden I think my hard drive on that machine died. It makes noises when I try to open it but screen is blank.

My phone is too large to back up to my computer or my current 5g cloud.
