The expensive OWC Aura Pro is not in a computer any more - it¡¯s in an Envoy Pro enclosure. The looks like a good old rotating harddisk is showing on the 2TB SSD that came with my 2023 14¡± MacBook Pro - just like Apple intended ?

Roger,
I just spent some time with Apple tech and solved the issue. There had been no reports of this issue to date. We solved it quite accidentally but I¡¯ll tell you what we did.
I created a new folder on the desktop. Clicked on the folder icon and copied it. Went to the Get Info window of the internal drive and pasted it over the custom icon that was there. The internal drive now had a standard folder icon. I then ¡°undid¡± the paste and the original Mac drive icon came back. ???
No idea if it will work for your situation but I¡¯m back to normal ¨C and happy.

I experienced the same thing when I upgraded from a 2015 MacBook Pro, into which I¡¯d put an OWC 2TB SSD - that somehow came with a custom icon for the drive, or maybe I¡¯d added it to the drive later, but I don¡¯t think so.
When I migrated to a 14¡± MacBook Pro with M2 Pro that custom icon came along and I¡¯m unable to remove it by the usual means of adding and removing custom icons.
I gave and and carried on with life, but is someone knows the secret voodoo needed I¡¯d be happy.

After reinstalling the Mac OS last week on my internal drive, I used the installer to migrate my apps and settings from an external backup SSD. I had made a custom icon for that drive to visually differentiate it from my other drives. Now the internal drive is displaying the external backup drive¡¯s icon instead of the standard Apple icon. Seems a bit bizarre to me.
I cannot manually change the icon for the internal drive, apparently because it is ¡°locked¡± to the system and cannot be changed. I guess messing with custom icons has its pitfalls.
