Moving the Finder preferences file (~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.finder.plist) makes sense to me as a possible fix. After doing so, restart the Mac and see how the aliases work. If you¡¯ve customized Finder settings in any way, make note of your changes so you can set them again.

?Yesterday on Ventura 13.5 ¡ª nine (9) aliases of 24 on my desktop ceased to function. Items can be dropped into them and appear where expected. However, clicking on the alias brings up the top level finder window.
The following did not change the behavior of the 9 aliases.
?Relaunching the finder
?Rebooting the computer?
?Using get info and checking path?
?Deleting alias and recreating alias ¡ª Why ?
?Updating to Ventura 13.5.1

However, putting the aliases into a brand new desktop folder (conveniently labeled ¡°Aliases That Dont Work in Desktop¡±) NOW allow the aliases to open to the expected place. A workaround only.
Researching (Google) found a 2022 question to a similar problem which referenced pList. I stopped there as I don¡¯t speak pList.
HELP ! ¡ª Any suggestions ??
