Driver board 12
Hello, I just joined this group. I do not have a 7000 but am going to work on one for a friend. It let the smoke out so by reading it's a very good possibility that it's the driver board. My friend has a new board! Yes a new one! How lucky is that! I haven't seen inside this radio yet but I should have it this evening. Without seeing it, my gut feeling is more heat sinking is in order if it's physically possible. I also read that Icom added a resistor to drop the current to that FET. Any hints and opinions are welcome. 73, Bob W4JFA (near Charlotte, NC)

Hf power out barely detectable 4
I purchased a 7K with no power out on hf. Vhf/uhf are good. Receiver is in excellent condition. I have set the driver and finals bias and are good. Gate voltage of the finals measures 2.4V. Power setting is 100% but measures negligible power into a dummy load. Is it possible the finals are bad?

Fair Price for IC-7000 Separation Cable? 7
I have the opportunity to purchase a second separation cable for my IC-7000. I am not 100% sure I really need it, but considering how rare they are now, if mine ever craters, or I want to move my radio around without pulling the cable out, or I find another IC-7000 to purchase (I'm looking) I'll be pissed I passed on purchasing this one. What's a fair price for one (used)? Grant VA6GT

SWR Meter on 2m / 70cm 2
I was at another fellow hams residence and since he had the equipment, I thought it would be a good idea to double check my antenna, coax etc. What is confusing is that he has both an old-school power meter (which was showing significant return power on my antenna run) and antenna analyzer (also showing higher SWR at needed frequencies), neither which coincide with what shows on the ic-7000 radio display SWR meter when I xmit. Then I read this in the manual.... The IC-7000 has a built-in circuit for measuring antenna SWR¡ªno external equipment or special adjustments are necessary. The IC-7000 can measure SWR in 2 ways - spot measurement and plot measurement. The SWR can only be measured on [ANT1] connector, in the HF/50 MHz bands when an antenna is connected. However, when a 144/430 MHz antenna is connected to [ANT2], the SWR cannot be measured. Does this mean that when transmitting on 2m/70cm, even though the SWR meter "moves", it is not really accurate or reading anything meaningful? I've been assuming I had a good antenna run, but now I am doubtful (though it does seem to be working). I realize that the "graph" SWR meter does not work on 2m/70cm, but always assumed the spot meter was true... I've ordered a NanoVNA to do some additional testing. Any other reasons you can suggest that would cause the discrepancies? I did the standard multimeter tests for continuity etc while bending, twisting, and moving the coax etc...everything "seems" OK at the DC level. Grant VA6GT

IC-7000 accessory wanted 3
I'm still desperately searching for an MFJ-706 or MFJ-7000 for a special project. I believe the MFJ-706 was sold in greater numbers, but both types are physically identical and I can make the small electrical modification required to the 7000 version. Bob, G8IYK

TUNER Xmit Power on IC-7000 8
I cannot seem to find an exact answer in the manual or online. When tuning (in my case an AH-4), does the IC-7000 use a lower power? The AH-4 shows a tuning level of around 10-15W. If I have my IC-7000 on HF set to 100%, and hit the TUNER button, am I forcing 100W into the AH-4, or a reduced power? i.e. should I manually be dropping the power to 15%, changing frequency and tuning (or auto-tuning using PTT) and then manually increasing power back up again? I have a complete and fully functional ic7000, in pelican case along with LDG tuner and microHam USBIII computer interface for sale. This is truly one of the early DC to Daylight Shack in a box setups. I used to take it with me traveling, but have since moved to and Elecraft KX3, which is more portable, but only 1/10 the power¡ Anyhow, I haven¡¯t used the 7000 in awhile and need to make some room. So am selling it. I¡¯ll ship it via UPS. Asking $1000.00 -- 73 es God Bless, Art / K0ACP

Ham radio Deluxe 5
Hello group. A drunk drove into my house and caused a bunch of structural damage, so we had to find a place to stay while the place is being repaired. I got my IC-7000 new right after they came out and had only used it mobile. Not wanting to take my large base station rigs for the temporary set up, I decided to take the IC-7000 with. I am having trouble getting the HRD software to find the radio. I programmed the radio with RT Systems software and that went fine, but connecting to HRD is another story. I have got HRD to work with many radios over the years in the shack but had not tried to connect and used the 7000 for this purpose before. So I wondered if I need a driver? I looked on Icom USA and find nothing. I tried to download a different driver on the Icom site, but was unable to download anything. I am stumped. I am not even sure what I should be asking. Thanks everyone and good DX. 73 -- Results not Excuses Bill AB9QU

IC-7000 for Go-Box? 16
I¡¯ve been thinking to swap my KWD TM-710G out for a used IC-7000 in my QuickSilver Radio Hammo-Can Go-Box for use with Winlink and ARES work. I¡¯d use it either 2m or 40m/80m HF. I¡¯d have to add a SignaLink and LDG IT-100 Tuner carried in a separate box with a Win10 tablet, but that¡¯s OK. Antennas would be 2m whip or 40m/80m loafed coil NVIS dipoles. Is there any reason why that might *not* be a good idea? The box has a 35Ahr battery and USB 5V ports to power a small fan to help cooling. Another option is a IC-7100 in a bigger box but that seems a lot of radio for a Go-Box. Bret/N4SRN

Reducing Ignition Noise VHF - Truck Mounted 5
So, I have recently moved my IC-7000 to my truck, connected to an ICom AH-4 tuner mounted in the bed for HF. The 2m/70cm antenna is also in the truck bed. When transmitting VHF, I am getting reports which seems to be ignition noise interference. At this point, I have some the remote head cable wrapped though some ferrite. Not sure what else would be recommended...just ferrite everything up as much as possible? Any other ideas? Grant VA6GT

Off freq during low power transmission on VHF
It is appreciated that if anyone can give some repair hint. my 7000 off freq e.g 11xmhz when 146mhz selected during the low power transmission (1w). It is same problem in 70cm band too. Anything above 5w is working perfectly. Wondered if anyone had same issue and has fixed.

Can you still get rotary switches? 2
Just found the rotary switch on the bottom left of the faceplate (PBT/M-ch RIT) won't push in so I have limited capability to get to the memory channels. Looking to get a replacement. Will KA3UQQ
