Hello Group, Well down the rabbit hole I go to trying to fix the infamous blown driver board and I started to look for the PD55015 and it seems everyone is out of stock. Worth Fixing IC-7000 suspected Blown Driver?

Hello group, I was driving down the road listening to 40 meters when I seen and smelled smoke. When I got home I pulled the rig body that was mounted under the passengers seat and noticed the smell was coming from the rig body. I suspected the dreaded driver board went. Is this worth fixing? I do have the technical ability to do surface mount repair. What will this cost? Will it happen again? If I choose not to fix it, what is the radio worth with separation kit? Thanks1 73's Mike WA3O

Rear mic port not working
Hello all - just inherited a well-loved IC-7000 and I'm working my way through it. Long story short - I noticed there was no RF output on SSB, but there was CW and while tuning. After some troubleshooting I determined it was likely a bad hand mic. Then I realized there is an auxiliary mic port on the underside of the radio faceplate. When connecting the mic there, it works. Has anyone had the rear mic port crap out on them? Is this a common issue? Or is there a setting somewhere I'm missing?

I'm looking to take the IC-7000 into the field in a pack. I am concerned about damage to the radio connections and controls. What has been your experience with operating with side rails on the IC-7000. Straight side rails look to interfer with controls. Ken KI7HER

I recently sold my IC-7000 with remote MB-60 and MB-105. I have for sale a mint (new when I bought it a few years ago) front panel display control head. It has less maybe 1-2 hours of use and it works like a new display, 100%. Last checked this week before I packaged up the IC-7K for shipping. Asking $300 which includes USPS Priority shipping to continental USA. USPS Money Order, Personal Check or Zelle. I originally bought it with the idea of making a custom split cable (and switch) to have one display control head in my basement workroom and the other display control head upstairs in the shack. Never got around to it though so my loss is your gain. ICOM never put serial numbers on these heads so I am nervous about selling it and someone swapping a bad head for a return. Therefore, I will place the buyers initials in indelible marker ink on the back of the panel head (tiny letters, I promise) just for my own peace of mind. Ic-7000 cuts off until warmed up

Hello All. Problem with IC-7000. After about a 20 minute warm-up no problem. I acquired an IC-7000 from a silent key. Maybe it was used once. Perfect except when I first turn it on it comes up fine. Then when I tune it to a different frequency, I lose reception. Audio still working. No transmission. The I turn it off and back on, all is good. I added a new power cord with fuses. I removed the from panel and inspected inside all tight. The rig was sitting on a shelf for about 8 years and not used. So, is it burning in? Transmits full power on all bands. Ic7000 Front Panel Problems

My IC7000 has a problem where the volume/squelch control and the control below it are inoperable. I don't know if it was dropped or something whacked it somehow. The volume is running at full output and either control does nothing when rotated. Any ideas?

IC7000 current when turned off

I checked my battery drain going to my IC7000 when the transceiver is OFF. It is 2 ma. Is this normal ? I would have assumed it would be 0. Does this indicate that I have leaky electrolitics in the Input Power Supply section ? Maybe a bad On/Off switch ? Anyone else have this problem ? Assuming it needs a cap job or switch replacement where is a good place to send it ? Thanks. I live in MT James

Problem with RX - Temporary blocking of RX
Hi, During recent activation of POTA, I had unusual behaviour on my IC7k. Suddenly signal goes to S9 but no sound from speaker, blocking all received signals. After 1-2 second "bloking" signal reduces and I gradually can hear stations better and better. This is irregular occurrence, could be once every 2-3min or once every 10-15min. Is this radio or some QRM? Thanks for your help 73 Marek

IC-7K after reverse connection to 12V

Hi Team, A few days ago, I connected my IC-7K to the PS using an extension cable, not noticing I was reversing the polarity. A few seconds later, I felt a smell coming from somewhere and I inmediately disconnected it. There was no smoke but a bit of a smell. The unit was a bit warm in the back but nothing I couldn't hold with my bare hand. After a while, I decided to reconnect the unit to the PS, making sure I was respecting the polarity. I turned it on and, to my surprise, it behaved as if nothing had happened. The couple diodes connected between +12V and ground saved the life of many components in the 7000... and my wallet. I wonder... Should I check something else? I believe the smell came from the insulation of the extension cable I used to plug the unit, for it was a small diameter cable; I only needed to use the 7000 for listening. IC-7000 + Rigblaster Advantage + HRD

Good evening all I have scoured the forum but cannot find a definitive solution to my problem.... forgive me if this has already been covered and I missed it. I have a 7k and want to interface it with a Rigblaster Advantage, to be controlled by HRD, but I am stumped in regards to what cable to use, from the 7k, to the Rigblaster Advantage. I have seen a mono to stereo cable as well as a 6 pin Din plug being mentioned on the Internet but the dew posts I have read are somewhat cryptic. Both the 7k and the Rigbladter Advsntage are recent addition to my shack and any help getting them interfaced with each other will be greatly appreciated. My main rig is the 7300 so this a new realm for me. 73s Don - M0CVZ

IC-7000 Hsend Vsend not going to ground

I managed to kill Hsend and Vsend on My IC-7000 maybe by shorting the 13.8 V on pin 8 to pin 3 on the 13 pin accessory plug. Pin 3 and pin 8 show around -4 volts on both receive and transmit. Has anyone had to repair this problem? What is involved in the repair? Sent this IC-7000 to MI Icom repair service he pronounced it working. Still does not work! Sent to him twice explaining in detail my problem He could not find the problem and sent it back. Sent to Toledo MTS same result. Both are/were ICOM techs repair centers. There must be some standard testing procedure from ICOM that is not showing my problem. Help! John, N0JA

Mobile Installation RF shutting down radio - Fixed one choke before head.

Hey guys I had this fine rig installed previously for many years with no RF issues but that was without the remote kit. Now that I have the remote kit setup RF is getting into the radio and shutting it down when I run my amp and on 40m with no amp. I placed chokes before the head and at the radio before entry and no luck, no matter which band when I have the amp online just a small amount of RF with low drive shuts it down. display vibrates/wiggles on tx 14 MHz

Hi all, today my display stated wiggling laterally on tx, but only on 14 MHz, and only when I keyed (I'm pretty much CW only). I tried lowering power but no change. Has anyone experienced this? Any thoughts? Many thanks, Colin N2TQT
