Wanted: BetterRF 7000 screwdriver control
Hello Members, This is PA3VOS. I have been operating on HF from my mobile for more than 20 years. 6 years ago I sold my IC-7000 as well as my HiQ 5-80 and the BetterRF Tune control with the 7000 Tune control. In the beginning of this year I bought an IC 7000 again. And a HiQ 5-80. A good friend of my gave me a BetterRF tune control. Only the 7000 tune control is missing. So, if you have one laying around or you know someone who has, please please let me know! 73's Fokko PA3VOS

Display distortion
13
I just purchased an ic-7000 from HamEstate.com. Everything seems to be working fine but the screen has some kind of distortion (highlighted). It wasn¡¯t visible on their website. It¡¯s just kind I¡¯d annoying since I paid a premium for this radio. What are my options? Anyone else see this display issue before? Is it fixable? Any idea what Icom would charge to repair it? Thanks David, K4ZZR

No 12 volts at antennae tuner plug
3
I just purchased this Icom 7000 used and connected it to my Icom AT180 tuner. It was connected to my 7300 and worked fine. No tune on 7000 so I checked for 12 volts on the tuner plug but its zero volts. Is there an internal fuse that may be blown? Does any of the Menu settings turn off the 12 volts? Did I buy a dud? Thanks for any help you can offer.

Hello Group; I know this may be a long shot but is there anyone on the group that may be interested in selling their IC-7000. It must be in excellent condition working as intended and include everything as shipped from Icom. I have seen a few on various sites. I feel more comfortable dealing here on the group. If so email me at direct I am good on QRZ,com Randy W9RTB

ci-v usb ftdi CAT cable
11
Is anyone using the CI-V interface cable with FTDI chip on Windows 10 with Icom 7000? My interface only works on Windows 11 but on Windows 10 the USB port is recognized but will not control the radio. Windows 10 is a 64 bit AMD with the latest FTDI drivers. Any ideas are welcome.

ci-v usb not working on w10 but works on w11
15
Just received the new ci-v/usb FTDI interface for the Icom IC-7000 and works fine on Windows 11. Can't get it to communicate with the radio on Windows 10. Serial port ids as FTDI. Drivers updated, protocol set to 19.2k, 8n1 same as setup on Window 11 PC. Anyone experience the same problem?

7000 SDR

I've been tasked to provide a 6M station for June field day. With a SDR running on a computer. Purpose is to provide visual to visitors. No clue how to set up for this with an ICOM 7000. Any help as to equipment and downloads would be helpful. 73 Ken KI7HER

ci-v/usb interface not working on W10 but ok on W11
2
Just purchased another ci-v/usb interface for my Laptop running Windows 10 but can't get it connect to Icom IC-7000. Works fine on the desktop PC running Windows 11. This interface uses the FTDI chip so shouldn't be a problem but I can't get it to communicate. - Device Manager identifies as FTDI - radio and pc protocols are identical, 19.2K, 8N1. -- there are no port conflicts -- is there something I'm missing. Lost modulation (audio) on FT8
2
Perhaps this may be related to a prevous thread (or maybe not). I have recently been migrating to Lnux OS and been very pleased to find WJTX and FLDIGI for Linux. At first, both programs seemed to work quite nicely with my IC7000 and SignaLink. Settings are PTT = VOX and Radio = none. Same setp also worked nicely (and continues to do so) with my Elecraft K3. However, now I have a problem with IC7000, but not with K3 -- so I think it has to be something on Radio. WJTX and FLDIGI look like they are working OK -- FT8 waterfall and callsign signals are decoded OK. When I hit "tune" button, SignaLink and rig think they are energized (red TX lights go on on both SignaLink and IC7000), but no modulation. There is a short blip on ALC and then zero. I have checked mic gain, power and VOX and they seem OK. Only intervening event I can recall was one episode on 6 meter SSB selected from mic keys. FT8 and PSK31 frequencies on IC7000 are from memories. As mentioned, switching to K3 with same SignaLink and program/computer works fine. Is there some change in IC7000 settings that would still exert VOX (PTT) but lose modulation? TNX for help and toleration of what must be a dumb mistake. CW filter passband width

I see where the narrowest CW filter is 250 hz. However, from the manual am I to understand that I can reduce the CW bandwidth even more, to 50 hz?

No audio, no transmit after programming IC-7000
9
My IC-7000 had been sitting a while and has a history of very light use. One night I pulled it out and decided to update the local repeaters. After programming the IC-7000 with R T Systems software, I hear no audio and the radio does not appear to transmit, no red line on the display. I then tried a full reset, and still no audio on all bands and no transmit on all bands. Any ideas on how to correct the problem? TIA Jon, N8YSS

To DATA jack or Accessory jack, that is the question.
7
I setup a DigiRig to my IC-7000 and connected the audio in/out/PTT to the Accessory connector. I was wondering if there is a compelling reason to use the DATA jack instead? From what I read in the manual the mic audio is muted when PTT is asserted through the DATA jack and I can confirm it is not muted when keyed via the Accessory jack. SO I should disconnect the mic when running digital modes. I'm thinking it would be proper to use the DATA jack just because of that. Taking VARA FM WIDE out of the mix (would require using the 9600 bps output on the DATA jack), for VARA HF/FM, fldigi (PSK, RTTY, Olivia) or perhaps a voice keyer, is there any other reason to prefer one over the other (Accessory vs DATA AF OUT)? What has been your experience? Thanks Danny

IC7000 Audio Hiss
13
My 7000 seems to have developed a strong hiss in the receive mode. Originally, I thought it was is atmospheric but the noise didn¡¯t change when the coax was disconnected. some details that help diagnosis: Hiss is pretty much the same across HF and VHF; 1.8 and 435 MHZ are the worst. Pre amp makes it much worse, as expected This has been getting worse or a period of time; gradually developing not sudden onset Any thoughts, such a list of usual suspect components, appreciated Kurt KD6LZV

IC-7000 not stable on 10 & 14 MHz into reactive load
2
Hello, I am new to this group. I did try to send this before and I didn't see it pop up in the list so apologies if it comes up twice. I have been looking at a crook IC-7000 for a friend of mine which has an issue on TX on 10 and 14 MHz. 14 MHz seems to be unstable into a reactive load. Works ok on a good dummy load. I initially suspected the low pass filter (LPF) section especially surrounding the 10 & 14 MHz part as these two bands share the same filter section. I looked at the radio on the spectrum analyser and see that 14 MHz has the fundamental and two spurs flicking between 2 ¨C 10 dB down from the fundamental. I note on SSB with no modulation and the radio set to its lowest power into a reactive load or even an open circuit it will take off and put out power and oscillating at around 12 MHz. 10 MHz will do the same but oscillates at 11 MHz. This only appears on these two bands only, all others OK. The placement of those two pink rubber pads has an effect on stability as well and I found the ones in this radio were in the wrong place. I have been through the relay driver logic and looked / tested the relay crossover points where it switches bands. All relays picking where they should be. Also tested continuity from the input of the LPF to the input of the SWR detection transformer and I have good continuity and can see the blips in the continuity as I change bands so looks like the coils in the LPF are good. It¡¯s a weird one.. Haven¡¯t pulled the PA board off yet, just doing pre-tests before I rip into it. Any ideas about this problem would be useful and maybe someone has seen this before. I am suspecting caps in the LPF. The local ICOM repairer has looked at it and couldn¡¯t fix it. Cheers & 73, Simon ZL1SWW
