Re: Dead IC-7000 for parts
Patrick, is your "parts" radio still available? 73, john,? nx2i On Fri, Sep 15, 2023, 7:26 AM Patrick Ouellette <patrickaouellette@...> wrote: I just got word that my IC-7000 needs a PA board. If anyone is looking for a parts IC-7000 with separation cable make me an offer. |
Re: CAT dead - is there any hope?
As I remember, but could not find on the schematic, there are two transistors that receive the combined TTL RX and TX signal from the CAT jack and separate it into the TTL separate RX and TX into signals for the logic circuit. These two transistors are where I would look for the loss of signals. I have had a problem here before, but the details have faded into the lost memory fog...
IF someone can guide me to the proper page I can look again, but if you find the proper input I think you can fairly easily track the signal to these two SMD transistors. JD KE4MD |
Re: CAT dead - is there any hope?
Hi if I remember?correctly There is a small inductor near the socket, test that to see if it is still working, as my one was not working, So I could not put the radio in to service mode, Dave 2E0DMB? Hey Laurin, any hope for this baby? |
Re: CAT dead - is there any hope?
Blake sorry I misread?your message I thought you were asking about the control port on the icom ic R7000 not the ic7000 which I also own and use. Actually I have one of those on the bench now. It is well after midnight and it has been a long day. I will pull out my service manual in the morning ? and look to see what I can do as to the parts situation on the ic7000 transceivers control port. I will respond again?tomorrow and let you know?what I find as to parts and availability. 73 Laurin WB4IVG? Re: CAT dead - is there any hope?
Yes mine has had that problem twice before from the same residual lightning ? strike. I have repaired it both times once was years ago when icom was still actively supporting these units, however it was cost prohibitive even then because they wanted to do a board swap at over half the cost of replacement. The second time was a couple of years back I found the parts in Canada ?? and I bought all they had in stock. While most of the parts are standard parts they are still not easy to come by. I have since moved my repair facility some 60 miles away from Atlanta and still have a lot of my stock in storage, but I know where most of the items for the ic R70, R71, and R7000 because I maintain several of these units. I do not know what price you were quoted, but parts and labor for a repair such as yours should not run more than $275.00 not including?shipping and insurance costs. I absolutely will not accept or ship unless the unit is properly insured because shippers are getting bad about losing and or damaging shipped items. So they must be packaged ? properly and insured for the proper amount regardless of who the shipping company is. Re: Help me fix my latest IC7000 failure
Thanks Steve,
That gave me somewhere to start. So in FM mode I'm getting 3.003v idle and 1.72v transmit at 50% power 1.66v at 10% power.? In SSB mode I'm only getting 10mV idle and no change with transmit. So I guess that helps narrow the problem down. Something is really loading down the ALC in SSB mode. I'm really struggling to see how mode selection is being done in the service manual/schematics.? I also verified that I had modulation on FM and that seems to be working fine. On the tinySA it looks like I have modulation on AM too. Just nothing on SSB. The service manual has very little on how the SSB side of things works.? I guess I'm going on a wild goose hunt for a shorted capacitor. I wonder if its getting warm enough to show up on thermal camera. Thanks and 73 VE1LX Chris McDonald |
