Hi, All, I'm still looking for a nice MFJ-706 or MFJ-7000 here in the UK (overseas deals would probably not be effective because of the weight). I?wrote the original review in PW and was talked into selling mine, and have regretted it ever since! If you want to part with an IC-706 Mk2G or IC-7000 at the same time I would certainly consider buying, but would want to do a deal against my IC-7200. Various other ham / military / marine radio items could be included in any deal. Best regards, Bob |

Re: looking control panel
You could connect the 7000's video o/p using a switch to the reversing camera input to the vehicle display. The switch would also put a 'dummy' reverse signal to the display unit. I did this for my caravan rear camera.? I have my 7000's video running through an aux input to my vehicle GPS. Works great as a head up display whilst driving. Don't forget about video out on the back if you are using the 7000 as a base unit. Any video monitor or display will work. Bob On Feb 13, 2020, at 6:47 AM, Pasquale S via Groups.Io <iw0hex@...> wrote:

At one time, you could buy a complete IC-7000 control head from Icom, but that was quite a long time ago.? I believe the cost for it was over $400.? I bought an IC-7000 on eBay several years ago that came with a new head because its original head had
a mechanical malfunction.? I repaired the malfunction with less than $5 of replacement parts from Icom and have never used the "spare."? The spare will be retained in case I need a replacement for one of my remaining two IC-7000 rigs.

Re: Another Chirp option
Ftdi is just a different chipset (interface hardware) and driver (software) than prolific.? Since you're using the Icom cable, it's probably not the issue, but maybe the driver from icom is not supported by your OS, Windows 10? Windows 7 drivers might load, but not run on 10. There are a lot of 3rd party cables available, that use old copied prolific chipsets, and no longer work with the official drivers. Ftdi chipset cables seem to be Windows 10 friendly though.? Here's a decent explanation? Joe KR0UT? On Wed, Feb 12, 2020, 2:06 PM Romain Kieffer <rmk4547@...> wrote:
