Re: Tuner
Many, many thanks to all that replied.? I found an IT-100 and will start with that.? The EFHW works fine on 40-20-15 CW low SWR <2:1 without a tuner.

Re: IC7000 repair
My contacts have all quit due to retirement. Best chance is to call Icom
and talk to their technical team and find out who is working on ICOM after
warrenty.
Good luck Ken

Re: Tuner
Given the 7000's ability to blow it's driver fet right off the board or fry
the finals, I would strongly encourage the use of a tuner at all times
The LDG IT-100 is my choice, but there are many

Re: Tuner
Yes, that changes things a lot. The idea stays the same. If you have one
antenna or more than one for th3e plural to take effect, if your antenna is
changing much, you still need some antenna work.

Re: Tuner
I don't need a tuner with my IC-7000 and 40-10 EFHW on the bands that the antenna is designed for. I get less thanl 1.5:1 SWR on all bands except 17M. If you don't need to operate 17M, AND you have

Re: Tuner
You will need an external antenna tuner with the IC-7000.
Running 100 watts into a 2:1 SWR (red bars on the internal SWR meter) can destroy the final transistors.??The IC-7000 will limit output

Re: Tuner
I'd go out on a limb and say that if the antenna is changing much, you have
some antenna work to do. Before winter would be GREAT!

Re: Tuner
I would get a wide ranging tuner. Your antennas will change over time.
I use a MFJ 994-BRT.
Impedance matching range : 12 to 800 ohms
SWR matching range : Up to 4:1 for < 50 ohms and up to 16:1 for
