I got a 7000 with one of the three IC-7000s I bought. It happened to not work and the problem was the CPU IC which is a programmable ASIC (or whatever) and is no longer available. Therefore LDG can no longer service these if the problem is that IC.
LDG was nice enough to send an IC for the later units, but the basic design has changed and I could not figure a way to modify it as the type of relays has also changed. Latching to non-latching (or the other way around).
Any of the newer tuners will work, but I have been well pleased with my MFJ 939I I. They cover a wide range and handle the power well. I used mine with the IC-7000 for years and with other radios like the IC-7100 etc as well.
