Re: IC-7000 Outdoors

Set up an external monitor of appropriate size (maybe 7 to 14 inch diagonal {maximum}).? I use a 7 inch Sharper Image battery set that KB0XA used to make up a set of cables for direct connction to the 7000.? It's what I use in my Go-Box for Field Day.? Monitor
MUST accept composite video.? An older analog TV would work just fine.
I'm quite sure that Don has quite doing these kits, though.

All,
Several weeks ago I took my IC-7000 to Galveston and used it to activate the Tall Ship Elissa for Museum Ships Weekend.? Our station was setup on the pier along side the ship under an awning.? Bright sun streamed in from all sides.?
The display of the IC-7000 was not really visible.? I made a shade from a cardboard box, which helped but was not satisfactory.? I was able to use the logging software on my laptop to get things up and running, but the situation was not a good one.? I'm looking
for any suggestions to improve the situation for future outdoor operation,
Thanks in advance,

Re: Ic-7000 separation kit
Mark Gilligan
A Cat 5 cable has 8 wires while there are 10 pins for the connectors for the separation cable. ? Consider connecting two separation cables in series.? The connectors are compatible.? In addition to the 1444 the normal cable is slightly shorter which might be useful if your desired length is less than 30 feet. ? Mark Gilligan |
Re: Where is and how to replace the coin sized memory battery inside the IC-7000
开云体育Thanks everyone.?I think I understand now that the battery is for the clock more so than the memories. I don’t know if I want to replace it or not, the clock is not that important.? I did order it, it cost about $10 so when it arrives I may open up the radio and take a look. The advise of just cutting the leads and re-soldering seems the best so if I decided to do it at all that is the method I’ll use. I did Google the part of course but the only place to order the ‘correct’ battery is from Icom. DigiKey and other radio stores did not have it. Some had never even heard of the radio having one. But good advise from Ray Novak lead me to the Icom parts store. Thanks Ray Keith, WA0?TJT |

It is a rechargable cell that is soldered in. To replace it you will have to remove the circuit board. Can't speak to the 7000 specifically but on other equipment I've replaced the battery I just cut the tabs on the existing cell and solder the tabs of the new battery onto the cut leads. 开云体育That is the clock chip backup for the time display. It is a rechargable cell that is soldered in. To replace it you will have to remove the circuit board. This begs the question... do you really care about the time display? If your rig is loseing its menu setting and memory frequencies you have a more serious issue. Perry K4PWO? I know there is a memory battery inside the IC-7000 but I don't know where its at or how to replace it. I ordered a replacement from Icom America's Parts Department (Thanks Carl Shearer) but they don't have instructions on how to or where the replacement goes. Is it in the body or the head of the unit? |
